@Lizziefin This pre-op bit is actually the worst part of this journey. Waiting and letting your imagination run wild is so difficult. Keep busy. Get your home set up ready for recovery. You are nearly there!
Don't forget - this operation is done everyday, many times per day with great results. To us - it's a major deal. But to the surgeon and their team, it's their day job. You've got this!
@Lizziefin Hurry up and wait - ugh! Could be the worst part of the pre-op experience, IMO. What to do? Well, get any and all equipment you need for the post op period, stock your fridge and shelves with easy to fix food (and your favorite "comfort" foods), line up help if you need to, and hang on to you sense of humor! Over in the community section here there are a number of threads of fun or silly things to make you smile. Also check your favorite shoes. If you've been limping for a while shoes can get worn down at soles and heels in to a maladaptive pattern. If your shoes show significant wear then either get the soles and heels replaced or get new shoes for wearing after surgery -- that will help a lot in making sure you establish a good gait.
And as Jaycey says everyone you meet when in hospital is a professional! They do these surgeries nearly every working day and ALWAYS have their patients' best interests as their main concern.
