TKR Well, hello

Thanks Ref,think I'm going to like it here.:)

Dave

Hi Dave! Happy you found the forum. I am all about the "positive vibes":) Like they have said each recovery is different. I love seeing the quick easy ones (to know it can be done) and then there is a lot of support and knowledge that comes with the more complex process. We just handle what we are given. What part of NM are you in?

Hi Peg,thanks and I'm happy I found it too.
Yes,everyone has a different recovery, different story.I will enjoy the learning experience as much as anything I think.
I'm just down I-10 from you by your location info.
Little town called Deming.
Like they say,it ain't much but it's home.

Yeah send some good vibes. Need it today. , 13 more days and I get cut again.
Thanks. This club will bring strength, got to pass it on to others who need a little.
So a big good vibe from me to all....

Old hippie
Many years ago I had some family living in that little town of Deming . Small world !
Hope you are feeling better !

Hi there!
I am almost 10 weeks out and wouldn't have got here without the advice and support of the BS folk!
It really has felt like Groundhog Day most days but then you suddenly find yourself doing something so small but normal that it makes you realise how far you've come! We have a half rise step between kitchen and utility. I usually pause each time I come to it and think which leg to use to tackle it .... Then yesterday it suddenly dawned on me that I'd stepped UP on my new knee. WOW I was ridiculously pleased with myself. Literally, one small step at a time with this recovery!!

spinnerdiva, it is indeed a small world.Depending on how many years ago your family was here I may know of them.Or I may not lol.
It's my second time residing here and that in itself is a long story.
I went to elementary and middle school here many years ago.
So far today I'm feeling fine thank you,and hope you are the same.
And if that's you in your avatar hope you get back up on two wheels!

sleepilu, yes,I believe BoneSmart is the place.
Glad to hear you're doing well, and yes it is the little things.
Therapist measured 108 degrees bend yesterday and it was as if we won the World Cup.

Folks, it's unnecessary to quote a post just to reply to it.
Unless there is some specific phrase you want to address, of course!
Then do it like this How to quote a post.

Thanks for understanding! :)

Yes that is me . Never got to ride once last year ,hoping this summer is different !
I will have to think when my Uncle and family were there , it has been a good while

Getting sutures out today.
They are from the patella subluxation repair,as Dr reopened original incision.
Hope to post a pic of the scar soon!

Belated thanks Hawk.
Long story short dept: Got the sutures out in fine style, took a couple of pics.I still had the the steri-strips on,so i decided I'd wait until the y were off,re-shoot pics and post.Just about that time,my cable modem died, and spent the last week waiting for a tech to bring me a new one.
So I posted my knee pic in that thread.
Except for my internet woes, things are going well.Pt going great, back on my RA drugs.
And once again,bless this forum.:)

Sounds like you have the right attitude about it all! I am with you on the NSAIDs- I used diclofenac which is a 24 hour release, and it worked really well- so well I was rethinking the need to do surgery so "soon" ( 58 = NOT old!) My other knee and few of my fingers miss the other meds for inflammation.
Hope your therapy continues to progress well for you. The advise everyone gives me and what has always worked in the past is to make sure to do the exercises at home, ice and rest as needed! So far it is working well for me. Hang in there !

Yes,rsmama,I'm a big believer in good attitude and hard work.I don't always pull it off,but I still keep trying.
Oh,when I gave up my naproxen 5 days pre-surgery,I was almost ready to bail by day two.:bolt:
But wiser thoughts prevailed.
You're right,58(59 in my case)is no where near as old as I used to think it was.
And I've got my resistance bands right here!

Just a quick check-in here.
All is well with PT,had 116 degree bend and knee feels strong to me.Of course the therapists are working hard, mostly to keep me in check.:)
At this point my biggest issue is my non-operated knee. You may remember it is due for TKR next, but meanwhile it's really painful at times.
This is not as bad during day to day living, but in PT,it's a killer.
Of course I've made the therapists aware of the pain, and wonderful folks they are, work around it as much as possible.
Darn it,I'm resigned to living with this, because the operated leg needs it's work.
Also, frankly,it's been a few years since that right knee wasn't painful.
Any tricks,suggestions,words of encouragement?
And once again,bless this forum.

Dave

Hi Dave! Words of encouragement:) I ran into the same problem. My my non-operated knee was hurting more in PT that than the other. I tried to avoid those exercises if possible.
