Anterior RTHR - First post from the other side. This is the day after surgery and I'm doing great! Went from walker to crutches within seconds and therapist is thinking about a cane when leaving. Haven't needed pain meds other than Ibuprofen for inflammation.

Dave

Wow! Congratulations, and best wishes on a continued successful and comfortable recovey!

Glad to hear you're doing so well! You'll be back to fishing and enjoying the Last Frontier soon!

Welcome here, and you are doing great! Loved your funny comment to your OS! :rofsign:

That is brilliant for you Dave @Auminer - sounds like your doing really really well. Love your sign too - actually that sort of thing could come in handy here in Australia - a couple of weeks ago it hit the media that a surgeon not too far away from where I live took out the wrong kidney of one of his patients :yikes:

Yeh, and it just keeps getting better, I have been issued a cane and...OS just stopped by and said I could go home tomorrow a.m., but I have to wait for another day to catch my plane @ 8am Friday. Oh well, they have good food here as I can order anything I want. I can't believe the recovery, I'm almost ashamed to mention it, but still wanted to share.

@Auminer , welcome to the other side. Ease does it for a bit. Let your body heal and recover from the trauma. Hope your flight isn't too long. Get up and walk as much as you can.

It's only an hour flight, then I get to relax for two days in a motel waiting for the ferry (4 1/2 hr) ride home. I've been walking around and getting my own coffee from down the hall, so all seems good.

Thanks for the help,
Dave

You sound like you're doing great! Looks like Tuesday was a good day for surgery. The PT's called me their "rockstar" today b/c I was doing so well. I'm just waiting for doc to sign the discharge papers.:happydance:

Hey @PuppyLove, so glad you've made it over the hump and have everything under control. You'll be outta there before I am, 'cause I'll be stuck here using up all this free internet and chow. Got free run of the place ain't bad, but it ain't home either! I'd rather be fishin'... :realing:

@Auminer Wow what a recovery already. I can only hope that my recovery is as good as yours. I can see you reaching your goals of fishing pretty quickly. That is fantastic. Way to go.

Another Amazing May Recovery! Looks like we are all doing so well! Awesome!!

Thank you @Serenity41 and @younghippie, but remember the OS does the cutting and it's our Lord that finishes the repair. But it sure is nice to know we have support and concern from our peers. :yes!:

Dave
@Auminer how very true:) my daughter had 10 hip surgeries as a child. After 4 years and her last surgery I thanked her OS from the bottom of my heart and his reply was "I'm just the surgeon, we have God to thank".
I've never forgotten that.

Amen on that @Auminer !
But, you sure do have to go a far piece to get home, don't you?
Rest up while you can in the hospital.... Best!

@Auminer, how's it going? It's great that you graduated to a cane before discharge. Today PT told me I could use a cane- but I still like the walker sometimes cuz I can carry things around in the basket. Please keep us posted on your progress!

Update and Question:
Things are going well, I'm driving a standard shift, walking without a cane, but still have it handy as I get tired at times. Outside working (or piddling :)) with things that need done, going into town and shopping etc.
I have noticed that my hip seems "loose" when I "hang" it without weight. Is this normal? Doesn't hurt, just seems loose and slides in and out as I put slightest weight on it while standing. Just wondering...

Dave

Any suggestions?
