Surgery Jitters - Date Set but getting bad thoughts

I just read through your thread. I felt the same way, and everything was fine. I asked for a GA. I was wheeled into the OR, went to sleep, and woke up in recovery. I didn't see, hear, or feel a thing. I was worried about the pain after the surgery. I made sure to have the medications on schedule. Yoga breathing helped me a lot, too. (Especially with the fear before the surgery.) The pain medications were excellent. It's good to really communicate with your nurse and to stay ahead of the pain. It's hard to catch up if you skip pills.

My surgeon also told me that my hips were very bad, both were bone on bone. Like you, I was limping and in pain. I am now able to walk perfectly, and I'm not in any pain. It hasn't even been three months yet.

I'm really glad you are feeling better about the surgery. It is such a relief once it's over. You will be great. I hope your throat is better. Keep us posted.

Doing a lot better today with plenty of antibiotics and fluids. I actually had some energy to setup my recovery room on our first floor, all our bedrooms are on the second level.

I am going to purchase an Amazon Fire stick and load up with books and videos. The hardest part is going to sit and rest, im typically a busy body and can't keep still :snork:

Sounds like you are well prepared @diet_hip , glad you were able to move your recovery room to the first level - that should make things easier for you. Good idea on the books & videos; it can get boring for sure so it's good that you are planning ahead and will have some things to keep you occupied and entertained while you recover. All the best tomorrow; you will do great!

@Hipster Girl Its been a long road and honestly I am forcing myself not to back out. If it wasn't for this forum and all the supportive people commenting, I think I would have cancelled by now.

Thanks again everyone, im looking forward to getting my life back without pain or medication.

I think I would have cancelled by now.
Nooooo! You will be fine! This is the worst part - waiting! Your imagination runs wild. Just keep busy and keep posting here. It does help ease the nerves.

@diet_hip just think how wonderful it will be to stop making excuses to NOT do things you loved to do... if you hurt anything like I do then it has been awhile sence youve danced... gone window shopping just for the fun of it... saying no thanks to friends who ask ya to go out somewhere but you hurt to much or know the activity will make you hurt all night and next day... And the big one for me, sleeping the whole night thru because you won't wake up 5x or more just because you moved and your legs screams out in pain!

@diet_hip, today is the big day! Best wishes and good vibes being sent your way! I look forward to seeing you "on the other side" and following your recovery. :)

I did it!. Well the doctor did but I went thru with it.

Been dosing on and off for the last couple of hours however,v everything went really well. Looking forward to the days of no pain after my recovery.

I will create a post in the recovery section as soon as I can.

Thank you everyone for the support, I sincerely mean it.

Welcome to the other side @diet_hip ! If you need help starting your recovery thread give a shout!

I forgot to mention my anesthesiologist had a RTHR in Sept. What shocked me was his ability to manually pump the hospital bed up with his leg. I was floored.

So glad to hear, @diet_hip that you are on the other side! LOL about the anesthesiologist - yup those new hips are strong and very useful :snork:
