Is there a preferred type of stationary cycle (standard or recumbent) for TKR recovery?

I have a recumbent and it is easier for me. Much more comfortable then having a regular bike seat. I am going to try riding my regular bike this week since the snow is gone and it is getting warmer. I was able to get the recumbent on craigslist for $75 which saved me a lot and now I have something to ride in the winters. But I imagine some may like the standard. I think that because your pretty uncomfortable anyway the seat with a backrest may be easier in the early part of recovery.

I bought a recumbent before my first replacement. Since I find riding a stationary bike boring I wanted to be able to read while I am using it.

I have a standard cycle ....can read on it too!

Nope. It's entirely up to you and how much room you have in your house!

That's a thought - wonder when someone will come up with an on-board Kindle! :snork:

I tried knitting ....but the wool got caught in the pedals!
It's just boring

I cannot watch tv unless I am on it. I miss Downton Abbey---those were long bike rides!!

I have a stationary bike. I didn't feel that a recumbent would make me work hard enough. I like it for my knee and general fitness. I have to watch TV while using it, otherwise it is just plain boring. Couldn't concentrate on a book while on it though.
