I had my COVID test this morning. It was the "scrape the back of your skull" variety. The nurse said "This will be a little uncomfortable sting, kind of like getting chlorinated pool water up your nose." Uh, no. It was more like having your brain shredded, then having coarse sandpaper run over the open wound. I would rather not do the long swab again, thankyouverymuch! It was a good 90 minutes before it sank to the level of discomfort, not pain.

I’ve been looking for places near me that do saliva covid test instead- and then hope the hospital where surgery is will be ok with going somewhere else for it- that sounds awful @Spacedust reading that gave me sympathy pains in my sinuses :heehee:.
you are so close. I’m thinking of you. I hope your enjoying your weekend with your mind on other things as much as possible

Wishing you a successful surgery and a smooth pain controlled recovery. I hope we see you on the shiny (recovery) side when you are up to posting. Have a peaceful week end.

I am having my right knee TKR Nov. 16. Less than 48 hours away. The anxiety has started to kick. Taking deep breathes but I know tomorrow will be a long day of stressing. Good luck with yours.

Oh, I hope they'll allow it! Some places will, but others are adamant about having it done by a lab they have vetted. I do understand it, though - after all, you could be bringing COVID-19 into a place with a lot of vulnerable people!

Thanks, m'dear! We're doing the best we can to relax and enjoy ourselves. Next week will be pretty challenging, I expect!

Thank you very much, leejaa! I expect you'll see a post from me within a couple of days!

So close! I'll be thinking of you on Monday! Can't wait to hear how you're doing on the other side! Hang in there - we'll be there soon.

I'm definitely getting a little anxious, although thankfully for the most part it is just resulting in me remembering things I need to get done and making lists. My husband reminds me that he is perfectly capable of doing laundry and cooking meals, and to stop stress-planning things that won't matter :) And he's right, of course - he's an awesome cook and better than I am at cleaning, so there's really no point, other than creating mental distractions for myself.

Wow @Spacedust , sounds like your hubby is a gem! I'm sure he will want to help you so that you can just focus on healing.

All the best on Tuesday!

I'm thinking I'll need to take a sleep aid tonight. My brain is running non-stop. I'm not frightened, precisely. I'm anxious, but not from fear; it's more a combination of being impatient to get it over with, already, combined with a bit of being ill at ease.

In a few minutes, I'll go take the first of my three Hibiclens showers. My bedding, PJs and bath towel are all fresh and clean. Then I'll climb into bed and read for a while, before hopefully going to sleep.

It's the night before the night before.

You are not alone when it comes down to the wire. You would think in my case getting some sleep the night before surgery would be easy Ha Ha!! Well aware nerves kick into overdrive and it makes for a long night. The way I look at whether or not you get some rest is irrelevant since you will be asleep during surgery anyway.
I am sure you will do fine. Going thru the surgery is easy your out of it the recovery not so much.

So, I managed to get about 6 hours of sleep last night :loveshwr:
Now it's time to pack my bag, have a light dinner, and try to stop second-guessing myself.

My grand entrance is scheduled for 7:30 AM.

Fingers crossed! Catch you all on the other side!

Thinking of you- by this time tomorrow you will have gotten through it and telling us how it went. :hugzz:
