@BruceH. I do not remember if you ever said if you were married or had a significant other or partner. If you do ask them also to keep their ears open and ask them to speak up in the hospital pre op and post op if they are around and ask what you are being given and they can help reiterate your allergy to Versed or anything else. It is great to have another pair of ears and someone else to help speak up.

The anxiety is because some of the medication info was flat out wrong including what they used for iv sedation. If I'm given versed it's a bad day for all involved.

That's the thought that's going around in my mind right now, somehow the anesthesiologist will think it's ok to give me versed because someone transcribed the standard versed and fentanyl iv in the notes vs the benadryl and fentanyl iv I was given.

I realize that all I can do is tell them during the day of surgery. No amount of worry will change anything yet I can't seem to let go of it.

@BruceH - To avoid any problems, you must make sure that Versed is listed in your allergies. Most hospitals have a procedure whereby any allergies are recorded and highlighted (usually in red) in a prominent place in your notes. In addition, many places also have the patient wear an ALLERGIES identifying wristband that is brightly coloured.

All I can do is hope the anesthesiologist honors and believes what I tell them. I stumbled upon an anesthesiologist forum and read too much about what they think of things patients tell them, lol.

In the past I've had the red wrist band on, been asked the question, told them no versed, and still had them (a nurse) try to give it to me in the iv.

Versed (midazolam) and xanax (alprazolam) are listed as allergies in my record along with a general statement of "no benzodiazapines". Enough of that, I'm not going to bring it up again pre surgery, once again thanks for the forum support.
