THR Second round ... and I sure hope it goes as well as the first

Hello @Knitquilt, helpful to read about "things I have learned from second surgery", so thank you for posting! Sorry you were having residual swelling, but great that the steroids are sorting that out. @1stSurgery had a lot of post op pain with her second surgery...right after surgery, within the first two weeks as I recall, and was treated with steroids, which really sorted out her pain levels. I'll have to keep all this filed away as second surgery approaches.

Have a lovely cottage holiday! I used to go down to my sister's house on MV during the winter, while I was in college in MA, and loved walking her dog on the beaches in mid-winter there...rarely any snow....fond memories of bundling up for wonderful blustery beach walks! Enjoy that and meeting your son's in-laws to be!

Thanks @Alitm - Going to reread @1stSurgery thread later this afternoon when I come home. Busy day today - voted, looked at a quilt display at our local library, and now going to a friend’s house. Boy, it’s good getting back to regular life. Enjoy your brief respite between surgeries- I think you will be very happy you scheduled them so close.
Even though we’ve been to the Cape many times, I’ve never been to MV or Nantucket- must put that on my growing vacation list!

Boy, it’s good getting back to regular life.
Boy it's glad to hear you are getting back to regular life.:yes!:

Love the ocean in all seasons.
You deserve a great trip.
Sure hope you like the soon to be family. My son is getting married in April of next year.
Love her...
Her parents...:umm:
But certainly won't hear me tell it out loud:dubious:

Happy Eleven Month Anniversary on Righty :happydance:
Happy Two Month Anniversary on Lefty :yay:
Hope you have a great week, hippy!
@Knitquilt

@Layla Thanks for checking on me. I was feeling really well on the prednisone, but as I slowly reduced the dosage the pain returned. That was a week ago and the pain is still there, but much less now. Since I’m leaving for our mini-vacation tomorrow the PA gave me another round of prednisone (a much higher dose 10 mg once a day and no tapering off) in case the pain increases.

I’m hoping to not take it and am just bringing it with me in case. But I am bringing my ice packs - can’t go anywhere without them!

Hi again @Knitquilt
It's great to hear the pain is lessening somewhat. Good to have the meds as reassurance you won't be miserable on vacation. I hope you have a wonderful time away from home.
Safe travels!

Happy Three Month Anniversary!
I hope you enjoyed your mini vacay and your pain has eased.
Let us know if you have time. Want to take the time to wish you a peaceful holiday season
and a happy, healthy 2019! Only 2 weeks till Christmas Eve. Where does the time go?!
@Knitquilt

:merry christmas:

I danced the night away at my son’s wedding!!! And by dancing, I mean jumping up and down to the song Shout and dancing for hours. I was a bit sore that night and the next day, but Tylenol and a little time took care of the slight achiness. This is something I could never do in the previous few years!

I just wanted to update and give some encouragement to people in recovery. This second hip recovery took months longer than my first one, but I achieved my goal - dancing at my son’s wedding 9 months after surgery!

Hi @Knitquilt ,
What wonderful news! I'm so happy for you and especially that you were able to join in, without pain.
Thanks so much for taking the time to share. It will be inspirational to those in early recovery to read what they have to look forward to.
Love that song too. We played it at our wedding.
Wishing you a fantastic Summer!

:wave:So good to hear from you.
My son just got married a few months ago and it was such a blessing to go and be healthy, happy, and in heels!
We share your joy!
Well done hippy pal!:happyfeet:

Congratulations, @Mojo333! I probably should have said I wore flats to dance - heels are still a no-no for me, but I can’t say that really bothers me.

Lovely to “see” you and @Layla again! Wishing you both a happy and healthy summer!

There is something so joyous about being able to do something like dancing at a loved one's (or anyone's) wedding that really brings home what a gift a hip replacement is. After the first 3 months, when most of the pain and discomfort had passed, I found myself delighting in so many things, from simply being able to get in and out of the bathtub with no pain, to more challenging things like being able to walk in a parade, dance at a wedding, and go bowling with little to no pain. How wonderful for you that you have two new hips, and are able to enjoy your life more fully! :loveshwr:
