TKR Recovery 5 days since surgery, and now I have the flu!!

I hope you find all is well when you visit your doctor later this morning. Random pains while you are just elevating are normal. I hated those lovenox shots, too. I am thankful that my doctor changed his protocol and this time I just have to take an aspirin once a day.

Do let us know what your surgeon says.
It does sound as if you've done a bit of soft tissue damage.

Back from doctors office, yes relief on my mine the knee replacement is ok but guess according to practitioner my blood was thinning to much i.e the discoloration of my whole leg and then the trauma or bruises when i was preventing my fall i basically bleed into my joint, bone. So on aspirin moving forward. Did say bruises etc cld get worse before better so slight setback. Continue pt but nothing forceful i loss some range motion since tue last visit due to bad and swelling so when called therapist whose giving me break away today and weekend since normally dont want to push when that happens . ill continue what i can im up. And down using walker quite often throughout the day so hopefully be good. Told her needed something stronger that pain that got me crying a night and the hydromorphone 2 mg doesnt do much for me. She gave me tramadol hcl 50 mg dont think ive ever had so curious if should completely stop one for the other ? Ive heard others mention having more than one medication and using this new one i was prescribe. Any advice.

I'm glad you haven't done any serious damage. It will be good to take Aspirin instead of the injections, too.
Go gently with the PT and keep using the walker until your leg starts to feel better.

You can use Tramadol in combination with Tylenol. That works very well. You need the extra-strength Tylenol (500 mg tablets). You can safely take 1,000 mg of ylenol four times a day, to a total of no more than 4,000 mg in 24 hours. Make sure that ther eis no Tylenol in any other medicatoins you are taking and, if ther is, add that to you daily dose calculations.

Josephine has mad a couple of charts that suggest a regime for taking Tramadol and Tylenol. The first chart is for 4-hourly doses and the second one for 6-hourly doses. (Paracetamol/Acetaminophen are other names for Tylenol)

When it's time to come off the Tramadol, you need to wean off slowly, to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
