Hip Arthroscopy Post Arthroscopy recovery timescales

@Worriermum .... it would be easier to help your daughter if we could speak directly with her. Perhaps you could tell her about BoneSmart and let her know we're here to support her with any problems or concerns she may have. We are happy to help you understand what medications and therapy she is being prescribed, but it's impossible for us to give accurate advice about her situation without speaking directly with her.

There is no way she would go for that. It's not how she rolls.

I suppose I originally came on here hoping that someone would have gone through something similar and could reassure that it wasn't strange. I have found some comfort, as Layla said, in venting, but I understand your point and am happy to leave it here. Thank you for the help and kind words I have had to date.

Just so you know, yes Amitriptyline is used for depression but it is also used for chronic pain (the doctor told my daughter that it was used in higher doses for depression, lower doses for pain):

Took this from an NHS website -

  • Amitriptyline is used to treat many types of persistent pain. It is especially good for nerve pain, such as burning, shooting or stabbing pain and for pain that keeps you awake at night. Amitriptyline belongs to the group of medicines called tricyclic anti-depressants that are also used to treat depression.

I do appreciate the support and realise it is a bit weird a Mother writing on here instead of the person who is actually affected!

Hello @Worriermum
It is certainly something we’ve experienced here before. Spouses joining for guidance in helping their partner who’s unwilling to join. Adult children joining in an effort to obtain advice for their elderly parent that recently experienced joint replacement. Also, like you, mothers looking for answers to help their adult and sometimes even teen child. Please feel free to use the SEARCH bar at the top right corner to look up Hip Arthroscopy and threads will pop up that you can read through if you’re interested.

Thank you for the useful information in regard to your daughters medication. I sincerely hope your daughter finds relief soon, or answers leading to resolution. I wish you both a peaceful holiday season and many blessings in the new year.
