THR PhyllisK in Recovery

This rehab is not for the faint hearted and requires large amounts of patience. Keep up the icing, rest and lots of them both. Things will start to shift.
This is great advice and reassurance!
Slow wins this race so please don't feel like you are behind the curve!
Hope today is a Good Day!

I’m now halfway through my fourth week of my posterior right THR and can still barely tolerate any weight on my right leg. Is this normal? I’m nowhere near close to graduating to a cane. Very discouraging.

I have seen members transition more quickly, and some more slowly.
Where and what exactly is the type of pain when you bear weight?
In the quads, in incision area?

Will you be following up with your OS in the near future?
Lovesstars is struggling with the transitioning also..
And she is a few weeks ahead of you.
Our healing process can certainly take its own course.
Baby steps...that's the usual course of these things...following up with icing and rest.
Hope today is a better day.

I am wondering if maybe the exercises I am doing at home are not aggravating that situation.
Are you still doing these exercises? If so, please stop. They are not helping your recovery and may indeed be slowing it.

Hi @PhyllisK
Happy Monday and Happy Two Month Anniversary!
Wondering how you're doing since you last posted?
Are you any closer to tolerating weight on your op leg? Have you moved to the cane yet?
Please let us know because we can get Josephine involved if you'd like some advice.
Wishing you comfort and healing. It's still early into the process.
Hugs

:santawave: Hi!
Hope that hip is doing well and some of your recovery niggles are settling!?
Month four was my biggest turnaround...where I didn't feel like everyday was about my hips and I may actually get on with my life.
Hope you have a great holiday!:reindeerlights:

:hi: @PhyllisK
Something if things are showing improvement on the hip front?
Have you had a follow up with your OS since you posted that you were concerned for your ongoing pain?
I know I had X-rays done again at 6 month mark and they provided admit of reassurance for me.
Soft tissues take time to settle and I worried over strange discomforts.
Hope all is well with you!
