TKR Overdid it<

Hi @Silverback I have a similar issue, I had left TKR on 11/02/19 so almost 7 wks. Few initial setbacks and recently lost footing and balance leaving through a public doorway where the ground was uneven. Really caused pain and lots of worry so iced elevated and rested overnight and seemed ok (ish). Next couple of days so stiff and
difficult to take the first few morning steps, prior to this was able to stand with a little stiffness and walk. So I too am hoping the advice you got works for me that it will go. Fingers crossed for you. It really is such a worry sometimes and just reading things on here help. Good luck!

I’m learning to take a little from everything I read and am told and apply it to myself for what works best for me because everyone is different

Almost back to where I was before I overdid it !!! Less swelling not as stiff sleeping better and back to routine I was doing end of week 8 minus the lifting on machines no more of that for awhile !!! Just riding the bike and doing exercises that where given to me !! Going into week 10 and want no more set backs

That's good news. We're at a similar stage. I overdid it in week 4, had the same issue going from sitting to standing and it took over a week to get back to where I was. Now at 10 weeks today and it's improving rapidly, but I soon stop, rest, ice and elevate at the first sign the knee's done enough. It's so easy to get carried away when it feels better. It sounds as if you're on the right track now though.

@Silverback this recovery is anything but straightforward that’s for sure. I had first tkr two years ago and you would think that I would’ve learned my lesson second time around.......nope!! It was a beautiful day here in Scotland yesterday so out I went to do some gentle pruning in the garden, obviously didn’t kneel butjust worked from a standing position bending over as needed.....fast forward to 2am this morning, boy was the new knee letting me know it wasn’t happy, had to take more painkillers and today it’s been a case of elevating and icing and nothing else:umm:

These new knees have a way of getting back at us for overdoing it. It would be so much easier if they warned us to slow down at the time.
Hope you are feeling better now.

OMG, I did the same thing and I'm,paying for it! Last Friday was 4 1/2 weeks and I had 125 flex, 0 extension, no pain so I went out in my garden WHICH IS ON A HILL, and slowly and gently pulled all dead summer stuff and pruned. Saturday I could hardly walk...pain behind knee. PT on Monday and he loosened me up so I was able to do 10min on the bike and all my exercises. Well I don't know what moderation means so I figured let's rock out with the exercises...aided squares, leg press, lunges but I think it was the wall slides that did me in. I did them too fast and hard. The pain was worse on Tuesday and has been so ever since. I've been icing, can hardly bend it. Can't use it to go upstairs anymore cause I can't lift,it. The pain is intense on The outside rear of knee. Had PT today and he was able to loosen me up to not limp and get a 90 degree bend. He said it was not my hamstrings but inflamed joint capsule but I can touch the very sore spot in the hollow of my knee so I still think it's a tendon. Oh well, I'm doing heel slides and gentle lunges TJIS weekend at home and have PT on Monday. I hope this doesn't set me back by months!!
