I hope this might help...three years ago in the same month my brother and I went to the doctor and joint replacements were recommended for both of us (hip for him at age 50 and knee for me at 59).
He was the smart one and had his done that month...I waited three years and had mine done last month. I, too was concerned and even a month ago was full of questions and fears. My brother has been golfing and enjoying life the last three years.
While arguably I must admit this is not a cakewalk, I would do it again tomorrow, as now I feel I have my life back. I do not know why I waited. Everyone is different but I hope this helped you or someone else on the fence. I am so glad to be done with my old knee and having it dictate and limit life choices. I have realized life is too short for that, especially if there are viable options.
