Got me thinking here, could be too, younger people do much better with these replacements...I see you are 42 yr young ... I was 72 and dealing with a living "hel" of a mess.....amazing all you are doing too ... don't overdo.

I gather you are very athletic, so the reason for replacement so young? C

It is 11 weeks post-op. As for the Tramadol, I am currently taking one pill at night. In the morning I take 2 Aleve. As I increase my activity, there is still stiffness, and occasionally some discomfort after a workout. This has kept me on the meds. It seems to becoming a lengthy time, however I refuse to let discomfort set in and impact the function of my movements.
At this point my latest breakthroughs are I am maneuving stairs effortlessly and I was playing with the kids and started to skip with no hitch or pain. Progress. I have been encouraged by the PT to begin some light ploy metrics. He gave me four movements to begin with, I have not done them yet, prob tomorrow. I did exercise today by ascending our stairs with two-footed jumps. It felt good.
My incision remains slightly tender. I have some clicking and shifting in my hip when I flex my hip flexors, or glutes. I have been meaning to ask the PT or the Dr about this. Anyone else notice this type of 'movement' post-op??

@caroline2
I didnt see your post before i wrote last.
It was explained to me that based on many factors my hip simply wore out at a faster rate than usual.
I feel like i have been fortunate in my rehab, and how i am returning to a normal life. I was truly a mess prior to surgery. Everyone thinks i am taller now! (Prob based on how i limped and cowered in pain for so long. )
Any way thanks for the bump!

This is a 14 week update. Most notably i have experienced some dull pain within the joint.
On a positive note, i continue to build strength in my quads.
I am still taking a low dose of tramadol before bed 25 mg.

@kfenn People think you're taller, and they think Fatty Patty here is thinner. I bickered with my mom the other night because she was sure I'd lost weight, and the numbers are the same (unfortunately). What is different is that I'm still working hard in the pool, so I'm building muscle that I didn't have before. I'm also standing up straighter on one side. I'll be a good six feet tall once I get the other side done! :flwrysmile:
I'm having some stiffness and some more swelling on my surgical side lately. I'm doing more, and that nerve thing is still giving me fits sometimes. I sat on the ice packs again last night.
I'm sorry that you're still using pain meds, but it sounds like you're headed in the right direction.

Countdown to my new hip 2...28 days!

6 monthes out!!!! Half way there.
Little by little activities are returning to me.
@LibraryLynn i finally got back on!!:wave:

@kfenn great update! Glad you are starting to see the benefits of your surgery! Did you have a problem logging into the forum? There is a "How to" section in the Help & Info area if you need it.

:happydance:Yes i did! Me and tech are oil and water.
I have started back with golf. I can vertically jump up onto a 3 foot jump box now, and some muscle mass has finally started to return to my surgical side quadriceps. Granted i am only 42, and since dropping 20 lbs for the surgery, i amm still pretty light/scrawny from what i was at one time.

All that said, i love walking again!!!! Had a vaca to Fla during April and spent hours walking the beach with no discomfort!!!!

:cheers::egypdance::spin:
