TKR Left TKR Oct. 2013, this is really bad

it’s early, but I’ve had a day and a half pain free. Even ran in the pool for most of an hour, then went shopping and stood without pain for over an hour.
That's really too much to be doing on one day, as early in recovery as you are.

Thanks. I’ve been very cautious about overdoing it. It’s the height differential. I just have to stick with the mismatched shoes until my left knee comes Oct 13.

TKR-R 7/21/20

Left done yesterday, 10/1.

I’ve never felt such pain in my life. Spinal didn’t work, so had to go with general.

taking 10 mg Norco 4x daily but it was so painful last night that I took an extra half tab with two doses.

icing, elevating, and nothing is working.

oddly, it looks fantastic whereas the other one was a bloody mess for weeks. Minimal bruising, no blood. Crazy.

I had an big double-wrapped ace bandage that I think was way too tight. There’s nerve pain in the leg that I think came from that. It had bunched up behind the knee, maybe pressing on a nerve?

Has anyone had that happen? I’ve taken it off entirely as of this morning but not any real change.

any encouragement / suggestions greatly appreciated.

The back of your knee is called tiger country due to all the nerves and blood vessels back there.
Suggest you ice the back of your knee, be sure to put a cloth between the ice and your skin. If Ice is too cold try a cold pack from your refrigerator, it will cool you knee and be more comfortable.

It may take awhile for the back of your knee to settle down with all the trauma yesterday.

Call you surgeon and let them know about the bunching in the bandage and your pain levels.
He needs to be aware someone at the hospital did not wrap your knee properly.

Thank you pumpkin. I have a call in to the doc. I’d never heard of “tiger country.” I’ll try some ice back there.
