TKR Knee recovery 2024

really MUST get out of my guilty conscience mind set. It is not helpful.
What I have decided is that I will try and go
out everyday. In the car, to the shops, in the car, or speak to a friend. It is very
easy to feel quite cut off when rehabilitating
I agree that getting out and keeping your spirits up is one of the most important aspects of this recovery. It is at least as important as the exercises in my opinion.

I like that I can sit in the living room and watch her play.
She's got her own bunny palace out there - so much space to play. I'd love to have a screened in porch.

Are you back at work or transitioning back yet? I'm back full time as of next week - but I've been mostly full time the last week - took a day off here and there. I have an office job so I have the opposite problem of not moving enough rather than too much. I definitely couldn't be on my feet all day though and walking is better than standing. I hope all is well with you!

No I haven’t gone back yet. I go back April 22. Sitting would be worse. I went to a movie and could hardly get back to the car. My knee seems to freeze in the bent position. I’ve had a virus so haven’t been up much for a few days. We have the grandson (2) this weekend. So I still need a lot of
Help from my husband. Hope your work transition goes smoothly. Best of luck !

Balls escape every now and
Then lol

Hi everyone. I wanted to ask about Voltaren. I saw some really old threads on it but would like something more recent. I cannot take anti inflammatories but can use Voltaren gel. Besides my tkr I also
Had a severe valgus deformity corrected. The outside ligaments were tight and inside were very stretched and had to be cut and affixed at a higher location. I think this why some people may have different pains swellings etc. I would like to use my Voltaren gel on my knee to ease some of the pain before I get back to work. It will be 10 weeks Thursday. Is my leg healed enough for topicals. Thanks

I am guessing yes - but would definitely advise a phone call to your ortho!

You should not use Voltaren if you're taking NSAIDs, which you're not, but it's safe to use Acetaminophen.
Always best to check with your surgeon's office or PCP for a nod of approval, providing a list of any medications you're on to avoid possible drug interactions. Three more weeks until you return to work. I hope you'll be feeling up to it and not dreading it. :fingersx: Best Wishes, Shawn!

I had the same problem- although my overstretched MCL wasn't cut and reafixed. I do wonder if this would have helped in my case- as it took several months with gradual strengthening of my medial quad to relieve the medial pain ( particularly on stairs). I was able to take naproxen which did help. I would definitely ask about topicals. I also continued to use ice for several months although I was fortunate to be only working part-time from home. Good luck!
On the positive side, straightening my leg has really helped my arthritic hip pain and sciatica- which are very much reduced . It will definitely help your other joints longer term

Happy Three Month Anniversary, Shawn!
I hope your recovery is going well and you're adjusting to your return to work.
Happy Thursday...enjoy the weekend!
