Indentation in left knee cap

I wasn't sure where to post this..hope this is OK.

I had a RTKR in August 2009. I still have problems with that, but that's not what I'm asking about today.

On my LEFT knee cap, I have had some pain. Last night I started feeling around on my kneecap, and there seems to be a pretty noticeable indentation on my knee cap. There also seems to be something underneath the skin that "rolls around" as I move it. It can be quite painful upon certain movements. Sometimes getting up out of a chair, etc.

I have had no injuries to cause this.

What in the world could that be? :pzld:

It's probably a lipoma (fatty cyst) or maybe even a fibroma which is the same thing but made of fibrous tissue. That it moves around indicates it's nothing to worry about. If it continues to bother you, see your doctor.

I guess what really bothers me the most is the noticeable dent on my knee cap.

it wouldn't show up in a picture. But it's noticeable when touching it.

How long has it been there? Just since the surgery?

It's on my opposite knee actually, (the knee that wasn't replaced) and I really don't know how long it's been there (the dent). It has been hurting for a few days now.

Another thought...could it be swelling. If it is hurting, it could well be swollen. Try icing it and see if it helps

Well, I can't offer any explanation then. Sounds very odd!
