THR Hey I am on the other side!

I am going into week seven post op and so far my recovery has been going well. I had a bit of difficulty finding suitable out of home PT, so I started quite late at 4 weeks post op. However, the exercises posted on the forum helped me manage until I found a suitable PT practice. I found a wonderful practice -though 30 minutes drive from my home its worth every minute of the drive. I do 2 sessions per week and do the rest at home. I went into PT off my walker and now I use a cane when I venture out of the house, but I don't use it around the house. I now have to be really careful with my restrictions because since I am feeling better, there may be the tendency to overdo. I can now see the possibility of life post hip replacement and I am very optimistic. Before the surgery I did not know exactly how it would pan out but now I can feel that everything will really be ok. I am so happy I found this wonderful community which has really helped with staying positive and resources for recovery.

Hi Titac

Isn't it wonderful, when all of all sudden you achieve a milestone and also feel emotionally good about your recovery... Good for you girl !

I wish you all the best :)

Hi Titac, I can hear the happiness in your post, it's great that you are feeling so positive

You are doing great :)

Take care

Ann

Titan

Oh yes, the "possibility of life post hip replacement" is a very good reason for optimism. And it sounds as though you are well on your way to enjoying those possibilities! I am so glad for you.

Thanks everyone for the support. Life is really getting better indeed! I was able to take my daughter to the zoo last week, spent two hours and left without pain! What an achievement!

How fantastic Titan, taking your daughter to the zoo.. That would have required a lot of standing and walking - so well done you :)

I bet your daughter was thrilled to bits :)

Hey all; I have been a little delinquent lately. Just a little update on my RTHR. My RTHR was initially scheduled fro October 27, but was postponed to Nov. 24 since i took ill with the flu. I was so busy trying to finish work before surgery that my resistance went down and took ill. Anyway, I am into my fourth week post op. and my recovery is going really well. At two weeks I was off my walker and on to a cane right now. This time around the recovery has been faster, maybe because I knew what to expect and what to do. So there was alot less anxiety. My physio has started and I am doing well, with minimal pain. Once again I want to thank the bonesmart community for all the advice and support. It really made a difference in my journey to two (2) shiny new hips!!

Hi Titac. As long as there are no complications, it does seem like the second hip is an easier time...been there, done that, know what to do. But while the odds are in our favor, it's never a guarantee with any replacement, so it's great to hear that both surgeries are over and you are on your way to full mobility. Onward!!

Sharon

Thanks sharon. I am really grateful that the surgeries went well and that the worst is over. Now onward as you say to a fuller and happier life!

:thankyou: Exactly 6 weeks post RTHR today! I am feeling good with no pain. I had some setbacks PT wise because my PT clinic was closed for the holidays, so I had to go it alone. For the last two weeks the muscles in my right leg were tense all over, it seems like they were angry. Starting from my glutes right down to my ankles hurt. With daily massage from from husband and some heat they are now alot more "free." I still have alot more work to do to regain my gait, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. My PT clinic repoens on monday, so I should see some faster progress soon. This forum is ethan just support, its inspiration and more from people who care and have been there. Thanks a whole heap!

Hi titac hope you are doing wonderful!?, just wondering if you made any firm decisions re pregnancy post thr? I am 35 yr old and now 4 mtnhs post op (with no children thus far) and keen to try in a few months but still concerned about damage to my new hip . Surgeon told me to go ahead and try but I am so concerned, just hoping you might have a good news story to share?
