Whew! What a week Tahoe! This next week has got to better for you. Hang in there.

Well, Tahoe, what a week you've had. What a time you've had. I'm glad you now know about the diabetes. It is so very treatable with meds and diet. You may find that when you eat in a way that supports keeping your blood sugar healthy, the weight will start to come off as well. My sister is an insulin-dependent Type II and manages it really well.

Please do let us know how it goes tomorrow. I hope they get you on a program right away. Those kinds of levels are not okay.

My heart is sending you healing light and energy and love. I'm glad you've found us.

Oh, Tahoe, I am SO sorry to hear about your recent hellish experiences with the sinus and blood sugar levels. I can't imagine how horrible it must have been, and I'm amazed you made with through -- and with some humor, too!

I've been keenly interested in your journey because you remind me of my youngest brother who's only a few years older than you. Arthritis has totally destroyed his hip, he can hardly walk and lives in constant pain. But the first OS he went to refused to do a hip replacement until he'd lost weight. He IS significantly obese, but he can't lose much weight if he's crippled. The OS told him to get bariatric surgery and then come back after he's lost the weight. Meanwhile, he's got to be careful about diabetes, too. So many similarities there. So I think of him every time I read one of your posts.

I hope and pray that these latest awful health concerns will be handled quickly and easily, and that within the near future, you'll be on your way to a pain-free, mobile life! Do take care and keep us posted. We're all cheering you on!

Joan

Thank you guys so much!! I haven't been on in a week or so. So, here's the updates. Got me on 2 oral medications for the diabetes. I am still nowhere near controlled. I go back to the doctor tomorrow and will make some adjustments I am sure. The last week or so has been crazy. I have really not felt very well, and I am trying to figure out what I can and can't eat now. I am afraid every time I eat anything. As for the bariatric surgery I have sent in the paperwork and will have a consult sometime soon. I will keep you updated.
The sinus infection doesn't seem to want to go away. I will address it with the doctor tomorrow too. I am still waiting on the referral to the ENT; He is still out of town I have heard.
I have lost so much time at work it's insane. I am so lucky to still have a job!! I see that I am going to miss some more too with the sinus procedure that they are going to do. I am praying that they (my job) will continue to be forgiving about the time.
As for the hip... well I sent my information to three different revision specialists over the last week or so. So, we shall see how that goes. I can't wait for them to get back with me. I would love to see that problem resolved.
I love the support that I get here. I miss you guys when I am not here. Thanks you guys!!

Wow you are really dealing with alot. Hang in there! Step by step for you I guess. We are here for you!

Tahoe, I miss you too, when you're not here :wink1: ! I feel there is such a family of warm and genuinely caring members on this forum that we really do miss the ones that drift away. I do anyway.

That's not to say that people shouldn't get healthy and get on with their lives, they absolutely should!

But, I miss them ...

Hey, Tahoe!

Thanks for the update -- I've been wondering how you're doing. I'm so sorry that it's been as much of a struggle as it's been for you; you definitely deserve a break from all these health problems. I'm glad to see you taking steps toward getting fixed up again! I hope those surgeons are eager to help you.

I think it's absolutely rotten that we have to worry about losing our jobs just because we're unfortunate enough to get sick. There should be laws against being fired/laid off just for being out of work due to illness. But I know other people who've been laid off after a long illness, and it sucks! I hope your employer isn't one of those uncaring types.

Keep posting whenever you can.

All the best,
Joan

tahoe - what can I say .... I feel for you, bro!

Hey Tahoe,
So very sorry to hear about your pain! Sounds like me before I had my bilateral, THR.
My second surgery was only six weeks after my first. The recovery from the first one went so well that we decided to move forward quickly.
As you know, THR is a very invasive surgery. I actually watched a video of the whole thing before I did it. Anyway, long story short, my femur was fractured during the second surgery which compounded the recovery pain.
It was at this point that I decided I was still going to do as much of my PT as was bearable and I'm so glad I did! Yes...it was painful but overall...my recovery was much speedier because I did it. It's now 5 months later and I still do my home exercises every day as I still have some muscle issues going on. The exercises REALLY help!
If you were given a chart of those at some point, or if you still remember them, I would highly recommend starting them again. Just do what you can. Your body will tell you when you can't do anymore. But my wish for you is that you rediscover how well they work. Sincerely hope this helped!

Peace and love,

Denise
