I know how you feel.sometimes I have to just read something positive on here and kind of take a break from reading all the stories as it can make you feel overwhelmed . I have heard mostly positive things on here and I think what I have built up in my head is worse than it really is. I am a teacher so I do not need to worry about getting back to work quick as I will have the whole summer to recover, but that is why I have planned it for may 16!!! I am originally from long island. Grew up there...moved to florida for college and never left!!! Where on long island do you live? About care... I am really independent... so I know how you feel. I have a 21 and 22 year old...but they are working hard after college and luckily I have an amazing husband... to take care of me.. he is a former paramedic firefighter and loves to take care of people...so I am lucky. I hear a lot of people who manage really well on their own after surgery... I am sure you will do great... we will keep in touch... the support is great on here... keep writing and tell your fears.. people are there to help.

Hi psychteach, it sounds like like you will have great support. That is awesome. I grew up in Lindenhurst and now live in Commack. Right now I wish I lived in Florida. It is downright frigid here. Part of me wishes my surgery was a little later so I'd be able to walk outside when I get home from hospital. Just something else to stress over. LOL. I am so grateful to have a place to share all that is going on inside of my head and have so many people understand exactly what I'm feeling. What a gift!

Hi Barb I look forward to sharing this experience with you! See you on the other side. Are you having anterior?

Thank you Bill and Sue for your kind words of encouragement. It means so much.

Hi jp9294 yes I'm having anterior on FEB 3 7am. Got all the pre op testing done so I'm ready to go. I'm hoping this takes care off The pain in my back and hip.

I just had bilateral anterior a in Nashville last week so I will be watching your progress with interest. I am not expecting to run a marathon in the next month but am cautiously optimistic I will be completely out of pain in a few weeks. Good luck! Judy

Okay, pre op testing done! Longest day of my life, but all went well. Friday they will tell me what time to report for surgery on Monday. Feeling tense but can't wait to have the surgery behind me and to let the healing begin. Thank you everyone for your kind words of encouragement and support during that last few days.

Jackie

Dental cleaning today! Made a list of things to have in the house for my return home and will purchase today after work. Have a ton of reading material given to me from hospital yesterday at pre op. Will read all tonight. Staying focused on what must be done and not everything I want to be done. That was Great advice I received here!

Ready for this challenge and getting past the pain. Let the healing pain begin BECAUSE THAT PAIN ENDS, right @pyschteach?!!!

Have a great day!

@Jp9294 ...I will be 53 Sunday so I am right here with you. Here's hoping all goes well for you on the 3rd.....I will be right behind you on Feb 18th and we can ride the recovery roller coaster together.

Healing hugs
Donna

I look forward to that Donna! Don't normally like roller coasters but can't wait to get on this one! LOL. See you on the other side...

Every good wish for Monday..... Will soon be done and you will be recovering with everyone on BS...Chrissie xxx

So today I got my time to report. I must be in New York City by 5:30 AM! Anxiety was high after receiving the call so I left work early and decided to run to market for few staples for my kids while I'm in the hospital. Any anxiety I had vanished as this simple task left me in excruciating pain, barely making it up my front steps with the groceries. I AM READY!!!

Jackie, early is good - that means you are first on the schedule and won't be sitting around waiting if someone else's surgery goes long. And surgeon is fresh! I know its hard getting there so early - I had the same check-in time for a 7:30 surgery time. Good luck - hope your recovery is smooth!

@Jp9294 Good luck to you on Monday! I know it will be a blessing to have the pain gone. I cant wait to hear as I will be going in Wednesday for my LTHR. In a nervous / excited stage now. Good luck!

Thank you everyone! Staying calm
