Frustrated and venting

Oh, there is no giving up, I want my life back!!! I read of those who have good days with jealousy, it's been 16 months of pain. First believed to be back problems and only since August have I known I needed a hip.

@newhip126 thanks!

Mine was all back pain also...until they finally figured out after 2 years it was end stage OA.
Scary at first to think replacement, then so incredibly thankful there was something to be done.
Definitely life changing.

Laura so sorry this is holding up your surgery , it's a bit like chicken and egg isn't it....if you had the THR you could be more active and lose the weight more easily. I'm trying to lose some before my op, and it is so hard......even tho I'm super strict with my eating (I'm coeliac and don't like g/f substitutes, so there's not a lot left to give up )I'm losing hardly anything cos my activity level has gone from about 12000 steps a day to less than 3000. I don't think the surgeons who make these demands really understand what they're asking. You've done so well so far, that must have been so hard to lose that amount when you're in pain.....keep going for just a bit longer then you can stick your tongue out at those less than understanding medical people!:heehee:

You’re doing well! I was rather shocked when I worked out my bmi yesterday. I was expecting the surgeon to tell me I’d have to lose weight pre op but thankfully he didn’t.

Hi @LauraVall
You responded on my thread you are waiting for your "Amazing"
It will come and it will be wonderful! And we'll be right here
cheering you on and encouraging you along the way.
Prayers for patience and comfort as you continue to move forward.
I hope your week is great!

Just returned from the clinic and my official weight is low enough to qualify for scheduling my LTHR!!!! I'm excited, a little nervous, and happy to know this grinding pain that has had me using a cane and a walker for 10 months, keeps me from sleeping more than 90 minutes at a time overnight, has limited my life is so many ways, is close to getting fixed. Hopefully I will be able to get on the schedule soon!

Congratulations, it is not easy to loose weight when it is hard to move around. I commend you for your effort and hope that the new knee is scheduled soon.

Thanks! It hasn't been easy, but I was determined!

Congratulations on the weight loss.....not sure doctors really understand the difficulty of losing weight when you can barely walk! You must be very proud of yourself....hope you now get an early date for that THR :yay:

Well done @LauraVall !:wowspring:
Step one, done!
Step two, THR.
Step three...start life without hip pain.:happydance:

When I first met the OS, he suggested bariatric surgery. I've known that to work but also have seen a lot of health issues and even a death related to the surgery. So @anny that was how my doc approached the weight issue.

I do understand the need to lose for surgery, for life. And in my Insurance HMO, it was the only way.

@MammaT and @Mojo333, I've learned and been inspired by your journeys. Thank you for sharing all of what you've dealt with.

And @sequin98 here's to a successful surgery and recovery for you! Thanks for the support.

Well done on your weight loss! I hope you get your surgery date very soon!

Congratulations @LauraVall
What wonderful news! All of your hard work will soon pay off with a shiny new hip!
You'll lose the pain, regain mobility and get your life back. I'm so happy for you!
Woohoo!
