TKR Frazz on the up and up

Forward rotation! :yes!:

I cant believe its already 6 weeks after my knee replacement.
The Last 3 days I've been feeling fantastic, I see my surgeon tomorrow and am feeling like things are ticking along really well.
I cant believe how quickly things have settled down and am already having alot less pain than before my op.

I know there are people on the forum who are struggling but I think its good for those of us having positive experiences to post so others contemplating surgery can see that there are probably more people with good outcomes than those who have a hard time of it.

I'm so glad you are doing so well at only 6 weeks, I hope the next few weeks go by quickly for me!!

That's great news :)

Only a little over 3 more weeks and I'll be at 6 weeks. I pray I do as well as you have!

So I'm now around 3 months post op.
I'm very happy with how things have gone, I did nothing that caused pain and my main exercise has been walking and general day to day living.
I have two questions I hope someone can help with. Firstly my scar/ incision is still REALLY itchy and also quite sore is this normal after so long?
Next question when I have to bend my leg a bit more than what I do normally, like putting on socks, it's quite painful at the back of the knee, should I still be getting any kind of pain anywhere in my knee after 3 months?

Thanks to anyone who can give me some opinions/ answers :)

The back of the knee discomfort hung on for several months for me, but it was gradually getting better.

An itch on a scar is usually the sign of healing. I would not worry about it unless it is red or swollen.

You are still fairly early in recovery and there are lots of aches and pains while the knee is still healing and getting ready to perform!

I think for me one of the hardest things is not knowing if things are going ok or not.
You hear and read all the time how important it is to get strong and have good movement by three months because that's when the foundation for recovery is set.
I worry a little that I haven't done enough because essentially Im lazy and hate doing set exercises.

I wanted to add a note about incision healing. Several years ago, I cut the heel of my hand on a table saw, about 1/2 inch deep. Don't ask how I did that! Pure stupidity. Anyway, I had about 12-14 sutures to close it. The cut was nearly to the bone. It burned like crazy until the sutures came out. It ached for a long, long time afterwards. I think it was about a year before I completely forgot about that wound as by then it had stopped aching. It was particularly bad after I used my hand much. Just wanted to add that as a comparison because that is most likely what to expect from any deep incision or cut into a muscle and through small nerves.

Walking is the best exercise after a TKR. In the beginning I had to concentrate on my stride so that my heel hit first and I rolled through my foot and off from my toes. It may feel unnatural at first but I found out that as I lengthened my stride it has gotten much better.

I'm now around 14 weeks or so post op and still having pain at the back of my knee and some stiffness is that normal?

I had that too. I thought it was taking forever to go away, but it eventually did. 14 weeks is really just a continuing phase of recovery. You'll get there.
You can ice and see if that helps. Also are you taking any acetaminophen still? I took that for my knee a few times a day for quite a while.

Well that's good to know it's normal :) I don't know anyone personally who has had a knee replacement so sometimes I do worry that things are not improving as much as they should.
It's great to get some reassurance
