Revision THR Continuing left hip pain

Stopping by to say :hi: Erica
I hope you’re resting comfortably and your pain is well managed.
Let us know how you’re doing as time allows.
Take good care.

Good morning all… I am at a total loss and don’t know where to turn. I know there are many people who have had hip replacements and revisions on this site. Maybe someone has been thru this also? This is where I am. I have had issues for years with my hips. After two surgeries and then two hip replacements in my left hip, I am having awful debilitating pain. It is in my tail bone and also the outside of my hip and then also in my groin and down my thigh. My pain management dr says maybe it is a nerve? I don’t know. I am so tired of hurting. Anyone else have issues after surgeries? I also have another thread in the site, it is under #discouraged. Thanks.

@ebair23,
Welcome back to BoneSmart! :welome:
Sorry to hear you are having continuing pain with your left hip.
Thanks for letting us know you had an earlier thread, I have merged your two threads for you, and kept your most recent thread title.
If you would like a different thread title post it here, and a moderator will change it for you.

With your tailbone pain, suggest you find a PT specializing in Womens Health in your area. They are the experts in muscles around the pelvis and pelvic floor that may be contributing to your pain.

I’m so sorry you are still having issues. I agree with @Pumpkln. A lot of my low back pain resolved after I got my pelvic issues taken care of. It certainly won’t hurt to be evaluated. I was still having discomfort, especially my lower back/tailbone, post surgery for pelvic organ prolapses. I was referred to a pelvic floor physical therapist. She released some tight pelvic muscles but also others like a tight left iliopsoas. I immediately felt relief in my back, hip, and pelvis. After a few sessions, I felt like a new woman. I was amazed at how much all those muscles interact and how a problem one place can affect muscles in another. I learned so much and she said she collaborates with her colleagues for clients that may have other contributing issues. You don’t have to have surgery to get help in this area. Please consider it.

Hello ebair23! I saw your post and remember you from our surgeries in 2018. I'm sorry to hear you are still struggling. I see the comments about pelvic floor P/T. I was having such frequent urination urges but just chalked it up to aging and talked with my Gyn doc. I did the pelvic floor P/T in 2019 and learned a lot and practice the exercises daily still. I didn't tie it to my hip surgery but it makes sense. I do have occasional pain in my SI joint/low back if I sleep hard on my hip surgery side even though I still put a pillow between my legs.
