I was told just make sure anything you sit in that your hip is higher than your knee.

Hello neighbor to the south! I'm up in Everett... Where are you having your surgery (if you don't mind me asking)?

After I got home I actually stayed upstairs for about a week (closer to the big bathroom, sleeping in my bed, etc) and we already have a TV in that room. I actually spent more time online with my smartphone than watching tv. However, I used one of those tv pillows (wedge with arm rests) A LOT when I was in bed. It was very comfy sitting up that way rather than in a chair for me. As far as the couch, hubby and I raised the loveseat/couch downstairs about 4" using boards and the non-skid pads you put under big area rugs on wooden floors. After 9.5 weeks we still have it raised. I sat in the recliner just this morning and it just felt too low (not painful, just not comfy).

Well it's just around the corner for you! Look forward to hearing about your recovery on the other side. Let us know how you are getting along. There are a couple of other local warriors that recently had surgery. I'll tag them for some local moral support! Weezy nerdgrrl

Hi Dede62,
I will make sure I have a bed pillow - may steal my daughter's. I will be at Swedish in Seattle, their Orthopedic Institute. I am nervous but realize there is no turning back now. I need to get this done. I am having a moment of bravery!

HipHip it will all work itself out. You've done your homework, found a doc you trust to do the best job for you, your prep is done and there's not much left other than installing that new shiny hip and some healing to go! Most importantly you've found international Bonesmart to be your cheerleaders to help you through the process. There's always someone online to chat with no matter what time you log on.

Well hello, hhhis! I'm not sure how I missed your threads, since I am usually on the lookout for other Seattle area folks. If its any comfort, I also had my surgery at Swedish Ballard. I was quite pleased with my experience there. Who is your OS? Mine is Dr Phil Downer. I am now 10 weeks out and just started going back to spin class, walking around no problem, just working on getting myself into hiking shape. If your surgeon is the same, you won't need the toilet seat riser. I bought one and never used it, but the need for it is dependent on surgical approach used. Good luck and let us know if you have more questions!

HipHip, hope you have some good sleep tonight. It will be all done and dusted by this time tomorrow!

See you on the other side HHH! We are with you in spirit!

I need to move to the other side but want to let you all know that I am well. They say life's a journey...

Surgery went well - I felt great Tuesday evening, ate a meal, watched NCIS and slept a little.

Wednesday and Thursday were spent figuring out pain meds...that happened on Friday morning. I went home with Tylenol and Vicadin as needed and Celebrex for a month.

Today Saturday has been great!
