MUA a year after and having pain often

I would find a new doctor that has no affiliation with your current OS. He has had a chance to fix your knee and he hasn't. It's time for someone else to look at it. You should look for a revision specialist. They deal with problem knees. If your doctor couldn't get your knee to bend much during the MUA, then it's possible that your spacer is too large. A revisionist would be able to spot this.

I think it would be a mistake to let your current doctor go back inside your knee. Give it some more time and don't try and force your knee to bend any further than it can comfortably. Hopefully, as time goes on, it will improve. It has only been a month since your latest surgery, and that is a little bit of time compared to this year-long surgery.
thank you

Is it normal for when I swing my leg or move it in certain ways that I feel a popping feeling, I had surgery in may on my right knee and when I go to stand up it still hurts and I find myself leaning on my left like I use to? Im very discouraged about this.

Yes, to some extent, some pain and popping can be normal, as are clicking sounds.

You have had a very tough recovery. What are you doing for rehab? How often do you rest, ice and elevate? How is your swelling?

By the way, I merged your newest thread with your original recovery thread, as we prefer that members in recovery have only one thread.

This benefits you because all your information is in one place, easy to find, and maintains a nice journal for you.

This also benefits our staff, as your information is all in one place, and we often go back through your thread for previous details, so we know what you‘ve been through which helps us advise you better.

So, please keep all your posts in this thread. If you’d like a new title, let us know what you want, and we’ll change it for you.

Is this popping feeling new? Is there any pain associated with it?

Usually this results when some of your soft tissues rub over the hard surfaces of your implant. We frequently see it in the early months after recovery. Even though your original TKR was in May, you had what sounds like a pretty tough MUA in August. This puts you back into the "early months" of recovery stage.

If you do have a lot of scar tissue built up (arthrofibrosis), you'll need to work with a surgeon who specializes in this problem. But first, I believe it would be good to just try and let your knee heal from all it's been through since your surgery in May. Jockette did a good job of creating a timeline in Post #60 and I suggest that you read that over a few times. Your knee has had a lot of trauma over and above the surgery and it's possible that it just needs some time to recover from all that.

Make sure you're doing at least some gentle bends and stretches with your knee every couple of hours each day. And do some walking (15-30 minutes total each day) or turns on an exercise bike. Ice or take something for pain if needed. But let your knee just try and heal without pushing any exercises or activity beyond the point of mild discomfort. If your knee is still having problems after a couple of months, you could start looking for another surgeon or two for consultations. I can help you if you try and find someone if you need it. Just let me know. Most surgeons won't take another doctor's patient for consultation until a year has passed, but you may be able to get in to see someone when it gets closer to that point.

I'm sorry this has happened to you, but we'll try and help you find the assistance you need.

Ill be having my knee replacement fixed at the end of this month hopefully, ive had a manipulation And it never improved, hes going to open up my scar again and pull out scar tissue.....Im in pain as i was before surgery im so discouraged that this happened, i thought going through it all id be so much better

@itsallgood21900 So sorry you are facing a TKR revision! You have had a lot done with that knee is a short space of time.

Does ice and elevation relieve the pain at all?

If you can tell us the date of your revision we will update your signature for you.

:banana-santa:Hey everyone its been awhile thought I would check in. I had a replacement last may and starting to have pain in the side of my knee when I bend it or lay on it. Also if I am standing and flex it and squeeze there is a lot of pain as well. It does look larger than my other knee which im sure is expected...I had a manipulation done a few months after surgery and that didnt help at all my knee was still very stubborn to bend even after physical therapy. Im in a lot less pain than I was prior I Just feel like something might not be right again, Im getting things together to see another knee doctor, mine didnt have much solution other than telling me he can replace it again, didnt seem to care much to be honest. I hope everyone is doing well and holidays were great.:happy-new-year-smiley-emoticon-4:

This was posted last February. Did you have this surgery?

I‘m sorry you still have so much pain at this point. A second opinion is a good idea, do you already have an appointment? If not, I suggests you find someone who does revisions (which doesn’t automatically mean you need a revision) and who has no association with the surgeon who did the previous surgeries.

Best Wishes with this, please stay in touch so we're able to follow your journey and support you through all.
Hopefully 2024 is a better year for you!

It sounds to me like a different doctor is the right direction to go, hope you find a good one.
