@Debdi ... You'll notice that I merged your newest thread with your original recovery thread. We do prefer that all your recovery updates, questions and concerns be in one thread. That way we can easily go back and review your entire recovery history before giving advice. And...as a bonus....you'll have a chronological journal of your recovery this way! So please use this thread for posts about your surgery and recovery.

I suspect Jo will ask some questions about your pain, but she should be able to provide some guidance for you when she checks in. So sorry to hear you're still hurting!

@Debdi If you would answer the questions I left you - now in post #7 - I might be able to help you.
Can't otherwise as I'm not gifted with second sight!

@Jamie, thanks for the merge!

Josephine
1. Posterior
2. 6 stab like, but more steady, really hurts when I walk. Not all the time. Noticed more at night and after a 30 minute walk.
3. Tylenol
4. 1X 20 minutes
5. All activity except lifting, and cleaning tubs.
6. Walking 10-15 minutes, leg lifts 10 twice a day
Walking up and down stairs

So that's it. Saw OS today, XRay was good. He mentioned possibly bursitis but as he moved my leg, out to side while bent, there was no pain.
I am really confused about this pain so thank you for your help.
Debdi

Hi Debdi45,
Have you gotten any answers regarding your pain? I'm at 5 mos and experiencing much of the same. :umm:

No but there is a difference when I do not walk a lot. The pain is much less, but 6 months out, I would think that I would be able to walk at a moderate pace for at least 30 minutes. If I still have it at my 9 month appointment, I will have to address it strongly with my OS.

Is your pain inner thigh to knee also?

@Debdi Although you responded to Josephine, looks like you missed tagging her.@Josephine ....there is a response above.

No, that was my fault. I usually mark and watch threads when I've requested such information.
2. pain score 6
Hmm that's quite high for over 28 weeks.
3. Tylenol
The question was "what pain medications have you been prescribed, how much are you taking (in mg please) and how often?"
4. icing 1X 20 minutes
Does that mean one 20 minute session per day? Does it make any difference to your pain?
5. All activity except lifting, and cleaning tubs.
Okay. What's your job?
6. Walking 10-15 minutes, leg lifts 10 twice a day
Walking up and down stairs
A tip about leg lifts - once you can do them, you don't need to do them any more, certainly not after 28 weeks! Adn when you say walking up and down stairs, is that on an as needed basis or for exercise? And if so, how long do you do it for and how many times a day?

And finally, can you tell me the exact site of your pain using this chart?
Please note the instructions in the smaller image

That is where the pain is.

I am newly retired after teaching for 25 years.

I was initially prescribed Percocet, Tramadol.
I only take 2 extra strength Tylenol.

Yes, I ice once a day at night, and it does seem to help.

Stairs are only in my home, they are steeper than most stairs (home pt actually measured them)

Lastly, this pain does seem to ease, the less that I do. However, at this point, shouldn't I be able to walk for longer than 15 minutes?

Thank you for any insight about this.

You've still not answered the question fully - which was "what pain medications have you been prescribed, how much are you taking (in mg please) and how often?" (Hen's teeth come to mind!)

Then you should ice more. Ice for at least 40-60mins and more than 4 times a day.

Well that seems like a clue - obviously activity is your nemesis! And since it seems activity is causing your pain, then rest more.
