OMG! I could have litterally wrote what you have throughout you various posts. First thigh pain... went away, then groin pain... went away, then IT band pain (side of the hip by the incision)... went away, then groin pain came back... and went away, now pain from top outer thigh, which is felt at the middle and inside of the knee... this too will go away,
Two things... first... RELAX! That is said with emphasis, not yelling. What I mean by that is the more I focus on the “issue of the moment”, the more I worry about it, and the more I feel pain. But the less I focus on it the less I feel it. Eureka! Stop thinking about it and it is amazing how quickly it lessens.
Second, consult Dr. Google again, only this time, instead of using it as a symptom checker, just Google “muscles of the hip and thigh” Now look at some of the diagram images. Literally, everything is connected to everything thing else. Pain felt in the knee, well guess where the quad muscles attach. Pain in the groin, look at where the adductors attach. Pain in the butt, look where the glutes and piriformis attach. Basically, according to these diagrams, everything that attaches to our hip also attaches somewhere else. So, a ton trauma to our hips, we are going to feel pain and weakness everywhere!
To be honest, almost every new pain comes with pushing myself one way or another (like trying stairs for the first time )... so I try not to worry too much. Let me be clear, I am not without my worries and freak outs... in fact just yesterday I was obsessing in the morning about this new pain ( down to the knee) I felt going up stairs and lifting the leg (have been doing stairs no problem for two weeks). However, when I start to get obsessive and down, I just look at one of those diagrams... “why am I feeling pain down to my knee” I ask myself, then I see that the quad muscles, IT band and satorius all attach there... and the. I say to myself “okay, well my hip is still swollen, and my hip muscles are still sore, so I guess that makes sense then”.
The am not a doctor, nurse, or even a google educated and self appointed exper on hip recovery. But based on my experience thus far, you are where should be in your recovery.... and so am I.
One thing I am just remembering... when I ask out of surgery it took many hours for the spinal to wear off enough for me to unrinate. Around 1:00 am I was terrified that I would never be able to pee on my own again. I though to myself then, this will be my only worry. If I can pee, anything else in this recovery would be minor in comparison. HA! If I only knew how much I would worry. Then, an hour later, I peed. Like everything else in this recovery, it was not really worth the worry.
Cheers
