Hi Richard. I think you sound very much as I was. although it did have a degree a of pain, largely at night with aching in my knee etc, stiffness was the biggest problem. twisting, turning and stepping up was a nightmare. I usually had 100mg of tramadol in the morning and then in the evening to...
Hi Pikemaster all I can say at the moment is that the op itself was straight forward. The worst part of it was just having a cold spray on my back prior to the epidural and I have to say I didn't know anything about it. On waking up from the sedation I wasn't really in pain however, the next day...
Sorry Josephine my mistake. At the moment I am taking 200mg thats 100mg in the morning and 100mg in the evening. I am told I can take up to 400mg per day total but I do have to say that I am perhaps over cautious about addiction Stan. In addition to this i take paracentamol as and when.
I have to say I do feel a little better today. A little more upbeat about issues especially after your supportive comments(thanks Jaycey and Stan). A little embarrassed about my spelling on a previous post ha ha but typing from a mobile phone in the early hours of the morning-"excuses". Any way...
Thanks for the replies Shadow09 and Mother Hen. Firstly i was aware of the error in using my real name as a username and have tried to change but I've been unable to find out how.
As far as answering your questions I'll do my best...
1. A lot of the time I get aching at about 4-5/10 but it...
After having my resurfacing op on weds things went pretty good. I was up the next day on a zimmer and felt quite comfortable. although I was and still am in pain I could walk with the aid extremely well. That same night the pain suddenly hit me for six and I had to have some extra pain relief...
Thanks Jaycey...I am off work now. The Fire Service has been great. They are supporting me through it all. Even sending me and my family to a rehabilitation centre where there are physio's etc (holiday for the family - hard work for my though). Hopefully I'll be fit for work again sometime soon.
Well I've decided to go for it. Got my Op in March. My consultant says they're going for the resurfacing option. Hopefully I'll be back to my firefighting job soon after. :dancy:
Thank you Josephine. Your advice is very reassuring. In fact everyone's comments having been very supportive. What you say Josephine is what I would normally expect. When your consultant is half way down the stairs it puts doubt in your mind and it makes you really think about things. I am...
Thanks for the advice, Billy. Of course I know you are right. I suppose Im just putting it off and making excuses. I'm pretty sure now that when I see my consultant in a few weeks I'll be asking for the op. Now I've made my mind up I do feel a little better and more upbeat about the whole thing.
Hi there...I'm not really sure if the longer I leave it the more chance there is of having to rely on a walking stick for the rest of my life. I'm presuming no and that the damage is already done. I'm just more concerned that although most people are fine and able to walk normal after the THR...
