    TKR Robot assist vs. Traditional

Hi , I am back on here after 3 years as I feel I am staring down the barrel of a TKA on my left knee . I had a Mako Robotic assisted Triathlon implant in late October 2017 on my right knee. Again like others on here I have no objective way of comparing outcomes versus the standard procedure so...

I thought I would update my thread as I am now 17 days post surgery !! I had one of these new Makoplasty procedures, with Robbie the Robot guiding the surgeon:snork: All in all it has not been too bad so far, I have learnt the hard way the advice given on this site is sound with regard taking...

Thanks Josephine The physio was ok in the end. I was pushed but nothing that hurt and no reaction from my knee. I am home now and just working on keeping my flexion up to around 90 degrees and doing my quad exercises, and of course lots of icing!! Fortunately so far so good with the pain -...

TKR 6 weeks post op and counting

Hi, I can understand how you feel. I am in London and the nurse says I am going home tomorrow with just Co-codamol and ibuprofen , I have had words and I am hoping for some Tramadol , but they are saying just enough for a week. This is going to be a painful recovery.

TKR 5 weeks and over the moon !!

Hi Suzy , Yes it was my right knee on the 31st. The PT has just been and got 80 ish degrees flexion , no work on extension as I am at 0 degrees. The OS likes his patients to have 80-90 degrees before they go home. Icing it now but not elevated ... it is swollen but I am told just normal...

TKR 5 weeks and over the moon !!

Hi everyone, I am now on the other side though in hospital until tomorrow. The surgery I am told was a success and day one was a breeze ..what is all the fuss about I thought! I had very little pain (morphine PCA+paracetamol+ibuprofen) and managed to get up and walk about a bit with crutches...

Cutting out medication prior to surgery

Thanks everybody, It seems there is no consensus on this one . From doing some googling of scholarly articles it seems avoiding NSAIDs and aspirin for a week is very conservative as it is processed by the liver within 48/24hours I guess just follow your surgeons advice !! Also I suppose giving...

Cutting out medication prior to surgery

Hi , I am due to be having a RTKR on the 31st October. I have just read my pre-admission notes and they do not mention to stop taking NSAID's ( ibuprofen, naproxen, Diclofenac, aspirin etc) in the days before surgery . I thought this was standard protocol given they increase bleeding risk...

    MAKO robotic knee replacement'

Hi Jamie, Yes Mako has been around for a few years for hips and PKA’s . It was approved for TKA in 2016 , but only was really rolled out in spring 2017. The claim is more accurate implant placement and some soft tissue sparing, hence slightly quicker rehab, and less complications/revisions The...

    MAKO robotic knee replacement'

Hi Spex , I am keen also to hear from someone who has had it , as I am due to have a TKR using the Mako system in October. I have done all the research I can on the Internet plus I spoken in depth to my surgeon about it . He is excited by it,mainly about the software which enables individual...

    Wait??? or Sooner The Better?!

Hi , I am new to the site!!! I guess I am in the same boat as Susie.... have a TKR at the end of October or wait until my knee is worse? I had a cortisone and Duralane twice plus I take diclofenac regularly. I have no pain at night or sitting at my desk , but walking any distance is painful...
