    THR My recovery

I just realised that today is my 4 year anniversary! All is still great with the new (or not so new) hip. TBH I rarely even think about it. Anyone reading this before deciding on surgery - there’s a lot to be said for a life free of chronic joint pain!

    THR My recovery

Hi all Three years now since my THR, and all is well. No problems at all with the new joint in the past year. We’re living in South America now and I’ve been fairly active in setting up our new place etc. I’ve taken up Qigong to help my creaking leftie, and it really has helped.

    THR My recovery

Hello Bonesmart people Thought I’d check in again as it’s now 2 years since my right THR. It’s still working great! No pain, decent range of movement, etc. Having the surgery was a great decision- it’s given me back my life. My left has calmed down again since the end of last year when I posted...

    THR My recovery

... and yes, @Mojo333 , I had become more active since the right was replaced. Also, the left took a lot of the strain when the right was deteriorating, so it’s served me well.

    THR My recovery

Yes, there were already signs of OA in the left hip in Oct 19 when the right was replaced. I was just kinda hoping it’d hold out for a bit longer. I’m in Brazil until April 2021. Fortunately my surgeon trained here , so he will be able to organise an X-ray, I hope. I will try to last until we...

    THR My recovery

Well, it’s mid December, and the operated hip is great. The other one isn’t so good, though. OMG! At my 6 week check, I asked the surgeon his opinion of my left (non-operated) hip on the X-ray. At that time it felt fine. “Be guided by your symptoms”, he advised. My symptoms are rather painful. I...

    THR My recovery

Thanks @Mojo333. This site was a huge source of reassurance for me in my recovery. In particular, I understood the benefits of not pushing too hard.

THR Anybody else's pelvis/hip area look uneven after surgery?

After my surgery, for several weeks, the swelling felt very solid. Trying to lie on the operated side felt like lying on a balloon. Not comfortable at all. I had my THR by posterior approach about a year ago. Things have improved steadily during these 12 months, so you have a lot of...

THR Pros and cons of early intervention

Sounds like you’ve reached your decision already. For what it’s worth, I think you’re right to go ahead. I’m now 59 and I had a right THR a year ago after several years of pain medication and decreasing movement. A year after the surgery I don’t even think about it. I have ceramic on high...

THR Hip Surgery under Regional Anesthesia!

I had spinal and sedation. Don’t remember a thing, and was eating lunch about an hour after getting back from recovery. It was good!

    THR My recovery

I have a ceramic on plastic implant, but I left the choice to my surgeon. He is hugely experienced.

    THR My recovery

Hi again - It must be another month! It's now near enough 10 months since my RTHR, and things continue to improve. The fairly low-level pain I was having when lifting my leg whilst sitting has begun to decrease. I figure that since it took two or three years to get as bad as it was, it was going...

THR What about hip dislocation after a posterior hip replacement?

I had posterior approach RTHR in October last year. I followed the advice to walk, but didn’t overdo it. Did no other exercises. I’ve had no problems. You’ll be fine..
