Hi @katiejarr ...I'm fairly new to the site but we have very similar stories. My BTKR was 11/24/14 and I am feeling all of the pain frustration you are. Rather than rewriting my story please check out my thread "9 weeks post op...help!" I just updated tonight so should be fairly easy to find. If...
So a quick update after being offline for awhile. I am 12 weeks out and ROM is finally improving. Esp extension which has been my battle. I measured -2 today on both knees and was thrilled. My walking is almost normal and I think people who don't know don't see that there is something off. My...
Yes...here with him now! I've been her since mid afternoon and the long drive and playing with him are starting to take a toll. Did good all day with naproxen but just finally gave in and took a hydro. Need to be on tom as I will have him all day. Still blindsides me when I can hit a wall so...
Anybody else get the grumpies like this? What have you done to feel better? It's only week one. I have a long way to go!
I definitely had the blues...not so much grumpiest. The first few weeks I cried at least once a day. Usually started due to pain/frustration and then would turn into a full...
Ok...I'm getting up and at it for a bit. Maybe an hour of some easy household stuff then will rest/ice. Thanks all again for your encouraging words. And yes...cannot wait to see my grandson. That alone will be therapeutic. Am lucky he is a very well behaved 2 yr old who can entertain himself...
Hello...seems we are also on a very similar path with regard to timing of surgery and our age. I'm curious also about your ROM measurements. Seems I live and die by them right now. Yesterday my cold measurements were 115 flex and -7 right; -8 left for extension. I also gain motion by 2'or 3...
Hi Vinny...you are about 10 days ahead of me so am glad to hear from you as our recoveries are happening now! Yes I sit on stage. I play keyboard and sing and normally would stand. Was hoping to be able to stand Sat. But not ready. I get up and move around between sets but am always pretty sore...
Good luck with your surgery tomorrow! Hope your hospital stay is adequate for rest and recovery. Over here they like to boot us out ASAP. My surgery was Monday 11/24 and I was home Thursday 11/27 so really only 2 days post surgery day. I was happy to come home but in hindsight should have stayed...
Good morning and boy did I need to hear this today...thanks Titianlady! I've been awake for and hour and miserable this morning. The aching goes deep. Cried for the first time in awhile. So frustrated! Grabbed the ipad to vent and read your post. I will be so happy when days like this don't...
Hey there TKR friends! So...today is my 9 week mark and was not awful (not enjoyable though either)! I had sent a link to one of the articles referenced here to my therapist over the weekend and said I was curious about what he thought. Keep in mind of the 2 PTs I see he is not quite as brutal...
Hi Awriterfoot...I was mostly on Hydrocodone but did use the oxycodone on PT says the first few weeks. I had horrible constipation for about 12 days after surgery. Was recommended I try "senna natural vegetable" laxative and it worked great. Glad to hear your 2nd time around is going better...
Hey all...my gig was good and made it through all sets but am VERY sore today. I've done tummy time twice and stretching using weights and elevation. Otherwise been icing and resting. The pain today is almost "bruise like" as if I fell hard on them or something (on top of normal pain). I had 1...
I so much appreciate all of your encouraging words! I have been so frustrated and having been so active before the surgery...just thought somehow this would be easier. I live in a small community and so I know both of my therapists personally. We don't necessarily run in the same circles but I...
Thank you Jaycey. I will take a look at all of the resources you provided. And yes..I ice...alot! My hubby thinks too much but it feels good. Also using heat before stretches at home. Not sure if it helps but the heat feels good too!
Also just FYI...my daily chronic pain stiffness level is at a 3 or 4 IMO. Some days are better and have periods of level 2 pain depending on my activity. Feel best when laying/sitting with knees slightly bent and pillow between but that is now off limits per PT.
