Congrats JolietSteel on your new hip...I live about 10 miles from you down in Manhattan... I think it's great that you found a doctor that is concerned about your over all health and not just your hip...I had my hip done in January at Silver Cross in New Lenox and am happy with the Hinsdale...
I actually did not get a Fitbit ,those you have to charge everyday and I know I would forget...I bought a LifeTrak Core C200---It does HR, Steps ,calories burned which was all I needed..I used the watch up against my Iphode 6 and the steps came out the same...The cost was only about 45 dollars...
Thanks for the advice Jaycey..I went and bought a watch today with a HR monitor and a step counter...Made it to 1200 steps this afternoon. Considering I haven't really been able to walk to well for the last 4 years I'll take it...Plus I have a left knee and hip to replace down the road...
Sweetpea the one thing I found out is have lots of patience....I am one of them who thought boom in 6 weeks I would be great..not -plus I had posterior...I have not used a walking aid in 2 weeks so I know it's getting better....Good luck to you and I am sure in 6 months we all look back to see...

Had my RTHR done Tues the 19th at 8 AM Chicago time. Was not even close to what I thought it would be. They had me up and walking that afternoon. Did about 6 PT sessions and came home today. In some pain but not really needing meds right now.

I am 65 and will not allow my self to become a potatoe...You need to go into it with a great attitude...You will be up the same day of surgery...Pain is always a part of the heeling process and does not last forever...I am TRHR on Tuesday Jan 19th 730 AM.
