    Hip Infection* I'm back home

Had blood work today. Surgeon and family doctor got results. I got a call from family doctor asking me how I was feeling. Surprised I asked why they were asking. My sed rate and CRP were elevated. My sed rate went from 48 to 63 in the 4 days I've been off antibiotics. I have to say I'm...

    Hip Infection* I'm back home

I just had a call from home health care nurse. She received order to remove my PICC line tomorrow. I'm surprised since my sed rate only dropped 2 points this week. 50 to 48. Sure hope it doesn't go back up once antibiotics are out of my system. I've been them since July 18th.

    Hip Infection* I'm back home

Well here we are, week and a half later and the doctor extended my antibiotic infusion again till the 18th. He said the reason is my sed rate. It's still elevated which means I still have Inflammation. I lost count of how many weeks it's been. Anyone else go past the normal 6 weeks?

    Hip Infection* I'm back home

I had a little excitement last night. I was walking my dog and when I got to the deck I fell. I landed on both knees and then my head hit. I was able to get up and nothing but my knees hurt. I'm more concerned I'm gong to be listed as a fall risk since this is the second time I've fallen...

    Hip Infection* I'm back home

Well it's been 1 month since revision for infection. I'll be on the antibiotic infusion till Sept 1. Most days I have little to no pain. I still need to use a cane. Home health nurse mentioned I'm the only one she worked with that still needed a cane at 1 month. Surely that can't be the...

    Hip Infection* I'm back home

This week I had the staples removed. Incision looks fine. I have very little pain, just feel some stiffness. I have 4 more weeks of the IV antibiotics. I'm doing my best not to get depressed. Having the second surgery so soon after the first took a toll on my body. I feel very weak. I...

    Hip Infection* I'm back home

Today I'm feel a little more human. The hip is still sore, but improving each day. I pulled two muscles in my back and that pain is worse than surgery pain. Yesterday I spiked a 101 temperature. With the pain in my back I worried about pneumonia. Home health care came right over. Said my...

    Hip Infection* I'm back home

I didn't get home until later afternoon Wednesday. The 2 hour trip was extremely difficult. It's now Friday and my pain hasn't let up yet. Surgeon reminded me this is 3rd surgery in short time and then infection on top. Said it will take time.

    Hip Infection* I'm back home

I had the wash out and some parts removed yesterday. They put in a picc line for antibiotics. Should go home tomorrow. I'm having muscle spasms and they just ordered something for it. My pain jumped to a 10 which surprised me.

    Hip Infection* I'm back home

Well the culture grew bacteria so I'm scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning to have it washed out. I can't say I'm happy. Is this surgery a little easier to recover from?

    Hip Infection* I'm back home

Surgeon's office called this morning. Said results were inconclusive. Had me go to hospital for more blood tests. I don't understand. You would think it either has bacteria or it doesn't. My pain in groin is the same.

I never heard back from OS. Today I went to the ER were I had my surgery. They did another CT, blood work etc. This hospital got hold of the OS and I'm to drive to the OS's town 2 hours away on Monday and they are going to do a joint aspiration.
