Hi, here I am just a few weeks past my one year anniversary, April 24th 24. April 15th I saw my Dr for a 1 year check up an X-rays he said everything looked great and to come back in two years. Now real life experience, my pain level decreased weekly up until about 9 months. From 9 months on it...
Ok here is my thoughts and some may agree and others may disagree. PT usually is making you move beyond your comfort level which in turn cause more damage and or swelling which will slow down healing. I am just a few days past one year and I have had no PT since about my second month. I am 78...
As others will tell you are really over doing it at less than two months. IMO never push into the extreme pain zone it well cause swelling and cause pain witch well set your healing progress back.
I think part of your problem is believing those horror stories. My Dr said I would hate him for three months and he was about right. I had TKR on April 24, 2024 and the pain was so excruciating I told my wife it was the biggest mistake I ever made having it done. But OS was right at 3 months...
Well it has been a while, here I am marching towards the 9 month mark so thought I would give an update on where I am at. My knee is basically pain free, I have no pain at all unless I really over do it such as shoveling snow we have had this week in Central Oregon. Even then it is not really...
Seven weeks is nothing, my Dr told me you are going to hate me for three months and he was right. It was right at three month before I could feel like I was getting back to normal. Do not ever let a PT push you into the pain zone it is not necessary and will most likely set you back. If you...
My Dr said I would hate him for the first three months and he was not far from wrong. It took almost exactly three months for the pain to reduce enough to start doing normal activities. I am heading towards six months now and do not even think of my knee most of the time. Still feels a little...
Thank you Mendogal, yours and other experiences have help me tremendously going through this. One of the things that I think helped me recover is the VA required me to do 15 sessions of PT before surgery before they would approve surgery. I think this helped strengthen muscles pre surgery.
Wow,I have made the 4 month mark. Recovery is going well and I have just completed my wife’s green house. I seldom have any pain now but my knee will still ache if I over do it which I have tended to do a few times climbing up and down ladders putting the roof on the greenhouse. I will just sit...
Strange different methods used by different PT. I am 13 weeks today and have never used any kinds of weights. I must be doing something right I am out stick building my wife a 12x16’ green house with 7’ walls and 10’ peak. I am climbing up and down ladders putting up rafters all by myself and...
I cannot emphasize enough what Mendogal said. Do not let PT push you into the pain zone. I did the first few sessions and I believe it prolonged the swelling and pain level. I had good people for pt and they listened and recovery went much smoother after I told them enough with the heel strap...
Well tomorrow is the three month anniversary for me. I am back to doing my everyday life things, I just try to baby my surgery knee. The night time pain is basically gone. Which is a big relief, I thought that was never going to be gone. About PT, I had great PT folks and they were very helpful...
