    THR Considering surgery

I am quite older than you, but have had both hips replaced over a 2.5 year period. I too hated the thoughts of having surgery, as I horseback ride, jet skis, hike, camp, etc. The worst part of the surgery is patience. It's hard to find the right balance of exercise vs rest. I'm not a patient...

THR New Here- THR 8/22/22- Muscle Atrophy (maybe)

Oh Boy did I have the nerve zaps!! It would come from nowhere and I felt like I'd been struck by lightening. Thank goodness it doesn't last long, but sometimes it can be quite painful. Hang in there, and it's a temporary thing. You will be zooming around like normal before you know it.

THR Does PT and exercise help Hip Bursitis after RTHR? So frustrated.

What I thought was so weird, is they give you the injection in the lower portion of your rear end. I had to ask why is he putting it there instead of directly in the bursa. He said he was going in from the back portion of the bursa using flouroscope. It was not pleasant, but the procedure didn't...

THR Does PT and exercise help Hip Bursitis after RTHR? So frustrated.

I also have hip bursitis...I've had both hips replaced, and had it after surgeries. I'm currently dealing with my right hip as it was replaced Jan 2023. I had an injection 2.5 weeks ago, and it didn't help much. I put ice on the outside of my hip every evening, take ibuprofen every 6 hours, and...

Revision THR Recovery following RTHR 10/20/20

I'm doing pretty good. Had my right THR this past January, so trying to get back to normal with that one now. I have hip bursitis, had an injection last week, and it didn't do a thing. So back to the exercises in hopes they help. Take care, and keep your chin up. I know it's hard to do sometimes.

Wow, you've had a rough go of it!!! 5 weeks is really not that long! I'd go sit outside and get some vitamin D-unless it's super hot!! I hope you find something fun to do....cross stitch/good book. Take it easy, it will be worth it in the long run. You are definitely in my prayers! You and I...

THR THR - One year on

I had my 6 month appt. yesterday....I asked him why I was so wiped out after a 2 miles walk. He said "You are only 1/2 way there to a full recovery" He told me I am not 30 yrs. old anymore, and to go slow:) I'm doing pretty good if it wasn't for the angry bursitis. Getting an injection at some...

THR Can’t put sock on operated leg 9 weeks post THR

I'm 11 weeks out and struggle the same way! I can't tell if it's glute muscles that are too tight, or if my thigh is still swollen and I can't tell. It's very frustrating not to be able to bend over very well.

    THR Leg spasms post THR

I am on gabapentin and take 200 mg at night to help with the nerve pain from my first surgery. I started out with 1 100 mg pill, and a week later started taking the 2nd pill. It does take some adjusting, and to wean off of it is not pleasant. But it definitely helps with pain. I also drank a...

THR Abductor wedge pillow - sleep tips request

I'm a side sleeper as well. My first THR I stayed on the recliner for 2 weeks as every time I laid flat, I couldn't breathe (All in my silly head). My 2nd THR, I was in bed on the 3rd night, and used a small lumbar pillow. I've also used a regular bed pillow. I didn't buy anything special except...

    THR Terrible muscle pains

I had anterior surgery on my left side in 2020, and right Jan 2023 and have had nerve pain (I think it's the femoral nerve) and I take gabapentin every night. It's a very low dose (200 mg) and relieves the nerve pain. I tried not taking any meds, and my thigh was hyper sensitive and felt like I...

    THR Spongebob's Recovery Journey

At my age, I'm not sure I'll ever be pain free, but it takes a few months for muscles etc. to calm down after going through this surgery. I've ridden my bike, go for walks, and I'm back at work full time after 6 weeks. I was actually working 8 days after surgery, just remote. The key is don't...
