It’s just over a year now and I’ve just had my annual review with my consultant. He was very pleased as am I. I have full range in my knee , can almost get it to my butt when I do quad stretches after swimming. I did a day when I did £23 k steps and only ached a bit in my muscles the next day...
@1ethal
If it’s swelling that’s stopping the movement you need to get that swelling down with ice , elevation and rest. Gentle at home movement to the point of discomfort but not past and no PT if you are having active days. I don’t know what a dynosplint is but I don’t know how they expect you...
7 and a half month update
Just been reading some posts about MUA’s being threatened and ROM not coming along as people ( doctors) expect.
This makes me mad as I was threatened with a MUA if I didn’t improve and told I wouldn’t get the movement back if I didn’t.
Well 7 months in I’m still...
I’m now just shy of my 5 month anniversary.
I’m now upping my walking and swimming to the levels of probably 4 years ago when my knee started to go downhill.
I don’t think of it now apart from in bed when it doesn’t like being still for a long period and the first few bends feel like it’s rusty...
It will be 3 calendar months tomorrow on my journey.
I’m pretty happy with it all generally .
Considering my surgeon wanted to do a MUA by 3 months if my ROM wasn’t the same as the other leg I’m getting on fine without that!
I think I’m about 110-115 and doing stairs normally ( although...
Yep I was discharged with a booklet that wanted straight leg raises from 2 weeks and it took me weeks - probably 3 or 4 to move it an inch off the ottoman on my own. I was so pleased with my self!! I tried to take a photo of it to send to my son but couldn’t hold it there for long enough!
I...
I’m at week 12 I think- 3 months on 4 August.
I wouldn’t worry about the leg lifting on your own , youre just waking up things that should sleep for a while longer! Rest ice and elevation will all help…..
I got in the habit of using my other leg to lift the poorly one as I was on my own after a...
Glad you are doing well, I found first 2 weeks the hardest so great you are at 13 days already.
Can’t comment on staples though as when I went to physio for them to take my staples out they took my waterproof dressing off and then said oh yes your consultant doesn’t do staples and I had...
Hi
I had one in the hospital and then 3 afterwards spread out at 2 weeks ( so 2 , 4 and 6 weeks) . I could have asked for more I suppose but had gone back to work by then and couldn’t fit them in and was fairly active anyway. I also started back swimming so I reckon that’s a good PT session!
9 weeks yesterday on my journey.
Calves still a bit tight after walking but walking in supportive trainers helps.
Apart from 3 sessions at 2,4 and 6 weeks I don’t do PT at all. Just living and working and sitting with legs on ottoman . I still do heal slides and the one that I clench the muscle...
Did a 25 min walk today but did it in flat shoes and at the end had pain in my left calf like a pulled muscle. Knee feels ok. It was quite a sharp pain but don’t think it’s any thing sinister ( DVT or Achilles) . Other calf muscle on the right leg is also feeling tight now 8 hours later.
I...
Thank you - the feeling is certainly less tight when I get up in the morning so fingers crossed it will go over time.
I’ll review at 3 months post op but I’m carrying on walking, driving and exercising in the pool and trying to stay positive.
It’s difficult to know what’s normal - that’s why...
Ok so now I’m a bit confused and really wanted to see if anybody had any thoughts.
Just had my 6 week review with my OS.
He commented as we walked along the corridor to his office that I was looking good and walking without a limp.
I summarised to him that I was happy, driving ( automatic car...
Just wanted to say just read all your posts @Xsbank and saying wow to your guts to have both knees done and at 11 weeks you seem to be doing OK.
Up and downs yes but hey anybody that can get pithy into a sentence must be doing OK.
Hope your wife is surviving ok too - I think at least half of...
My week 5 update
I’m feeling a bit more normal !
Just celebrating the little things - started driving as I have an automatic and it’s the other leg if you know what I mean.
Have been working from home past couple of weeks ( as and when I felt ok) and going into work next week on a start late...
