    TKR Other knee replaced

Thanks for all the great info! I have a couple small spurs and my surgeon thinks that then piece of bone was a bigger spur. You are so right about nothing helping the pain! I had my second outing since coming home a week ago today. Felt good to get out, but I'm wiped!! I am not having outpatient...

    TKR Other knee replaced

Hello all! I had my right knee replaced 11/20/14 and had the left replaced on 9/8/16, last Thursday. Recovery is going much smoother this time. I'd lost about 50 pounds, I have been active and taking better care of myself in general. I think that helped immensely. My left TKA was life altering...

4 weeks today!! That flew by! I am getting around the house with one crutch. Sometimes none, but I'm super careful and toddle. ROAR!!!! Biggest grip I have is the tightness right on top of my knee cap. I'd guess it's either scar tissue or when my quad was reconnected. I've done some stretches...

    TKR the other side, finally!

Warm liquids like the tea work. When I worked in assisted living we'd put a shot of Milk of Mag in coffee or hot cocoa, crappaccino. Water, water, water is key to keeping things going, too. Hope you are doing well! LTKR November 20, 2014 RTKR sometime in 2015

I'm so, so sorry you are going through this. If you have the strength and want, ask to talk to an administrative rep (usually a nurse in charge of all nurses in the hospital) or a patient advocate. Someone not checking on you for two hours is beyond unacceptable. Hope you are getting on top of...

Acceptable levels of pain are subjective. Everyone's is different, that's up to you. When they ask, always answer above 5, they should provide some relief. You better hope she isn't pulling a 12 Hour or double shift! Be the squeaky well. :) We walked with immobilizers on with the nerve blocks...

    TKR the other side, finally!

Ask to talk to the charge nurse on shift and be reassigned. If she's charge, ask for next in line. Meds can be given a half an hour or so from the next scheduled time, I'd be laying on that call light button like a madman. I had a few nurses like that and a few that just kept making the rounds...

Congrats!! You probably got gabapentin? The nurses should be doing a better letting you know what you are getting. The other pump is an SCD to help prevent blood clots, very important. Get an ice pack for the back of your knee, don't put too much pressure back there, but it will help! Rest...

I wish I could pinpoint the source and cut back/modify. Only thing I do know is some days if I don't get up ever 60-90 minutes I get so stiffened up. I'll just wake up with it, foam roll my outer thigh out and sometimes it goes away, sometimes it comes back. The measurements were at different...

    TexasTee gets a new knee...

I went to a mastectomy shop and got some JOBST stockings. I was told (I'm a nurse and these are the biggest things people forgo because TEDS are uncomfortable) to wear them for 5 weeks. I got the 15-20 mm of pressure, TEDS are 18, in a couple different fabrics and I love them!! I found out while...

    TKR 8 Month Update

4 weeks out a sleepy quad here too!! Muscle is lost very quickly with inactivity. For every 4-7 days you lose about 10% of your muscle mass. In my case, I had altered the way I walked to relieve pain, I further weakened things. Plus I am still mentally favoring that side due to previous pain. PT...

I had to postpone my Feb trip to Cal because of this blasted knee!! As soon as I transferred my hotel room in Newport Beach to my friend I had instant SAD!! Quad slowly but surely waking up. Flexion is anywhere from 95-110, I'm starting to think that number we all work so hard to achieve is...

    TKR Post Op Shenanigans

Hi, I was actually sent home on Dilaudid but I started hallucinating. It was probably about a week when I quit the oxy during the day. I think I've taken it twice during the day in the past two weeks. The tramadol works very well for me. I have such a low tolerance for opioids. I'm kind of...

Oh yes, I know. The therapist had very light amount of weight on it. We are just figuring out things that will fire up the muscles. Won't find me in the squat rack anytime soon!! Flexion was 110 yesterday, extension is still tight, but better. Icing and resting today while the husband paints...
