THR I did it! I am a hippie too!

Welcome to the other side!! I'm so glad to hear that you are doing well and will be on your way home soon. I admit, I was terrified before the surgery, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Life is SO much better after!

    THR I made it!

Sorry Josephine, and thanks for the well wishes! I do have to say that I was very strict with my pain meds, actually OCD about taking them every four hours on time 24/7 and weaned slowly to 6, then 8, then 12 hours. I set alarms for the first week every four hours to stay ahead of any pain...

    THR I made it!

Well, things have been going great! My R-THR was 9/5 and I went back to my full time job yesterday 10/7. I stopped my pain meds and ditched my walker at two weeks, ditched my cane at three weeks, and can walk without a limp and drive at four weeks. I have to admit I was very diligent in doing...

    THR I made it!

Thank you too Bletch! I took my first walk down to the end of the block and back on Saturday with my walker. It was nice to get out and move a bit. I went yesterday too and took my time, the weather has been beautiful. My house is small so it's hard to get enough exercise walking inside. I...

THR Bletch is on the hipsie side

Welcome to the other side!!! I had a spinal as well (about 7:30 am) and the feeling slowly came back to my legs later in the day. I too made sure to have a bit to eat (Jello and broth) before starting my pain meds. Today you will want to rest a lot and the nurses will be taking vitals all...

THR Vet girl is a hippie !!!

Vetgirl, how are you feeling today? I too was so tired in the hospital, all I wanted to do was sleep. The PT for me was a chance to chat with everyone, it energized me for some odd reason, but I know what you mean about visits and chatting being tiring and overwhelming. I'm about 10 days out...

THR Vet girl is a hippie !!!

Vetgirl, welcome to the other side!!!! You sound like you are doing well. I layed in the recovery room from 11:00 - 3:00 because i had to wait for my room, but I had good care there. The only nurse I did not like was my day nurse on Friday who kept making me take pills on an empty stomach...

    THR I made it!

Sharon, I'm not sure what concern I should be posting? I don't have any concerns right now, but it sounds like others have concerns with my post and what I've been told to do. To be honest, I don't even feel like I had a replacement, I feel perfectly normal, tired, but that's about it. I have...

    THR I made it!

I'm only doing the exercises that I did pre-op, plus several standing exercises that are for post op. They are done twice a day on a schedule. I'm doing the repetitions 10/15 times twice daily as instructed. Before my surgery, I did them more often with more reps. so I don't feel that I'm...

THR Red Shoe is Singing on the Other Side

I must be a weird one....my appetite is fine, actually I'm always hungry now...lol. I also didn't have any constipation and my leg is not bruised at all. My leg is swollen from the thigh, knee and calf, but that's it. They had a blood drain thingy in me, but that came out on Saturday. My leg...

THR Red Shoe is Singing on the Other Side

Butterfly, I agree 100% with Red Shoe, the pain after the replacement is nothing compared to the pain before. I had bone on bone with bone spurs and fluid on the joint. I also had referred pain down through my knee and shin which was excruciating. Now after surgery, all those pains are GONE...

    THR I made it!

An added note, I had the old fashioned Posterior approach on the side of my buttocks. I did my pre-op exercises religiously every day and always more reps than were called for, I believe that has helped me greatly now, my muscles even though were cut don't seem very weak.

    THR I made it!

My right THR was last Thursday 9/5 at 7:30 am. I was scared so did not sleep at all the night before. My daughter and grandson took me there and stayed with me until they took me back for my spinal. I had the spinal, then I was out! Woke up in the recovery room and felt pretty good, but very...

    Tomorrow is the day..

I'm having my THR on my right hip tomorrow am at 7:30. Feeling very nervous and somewhat scared. Most things are taken care of, house cleaned and furniture re-arranged, got groceries, paid the bills, washed clothes and arranged for someone to care for my two dogs until Tuesday. After that I'm...
