    TKR Dancing Fool's second knee

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm doing the exercises Celle linked to and I'm walking normally. Just nervous about being left with a bent leg again. I'll be patient.

    TKR Dancing Fool's second knee

Looking for a bit of advice from @Josephine or the other experienced folks. I'm now eight weeks from surgery and haven't been posting (just reading BoneSmart) since I haven't been having problems, but I do have a question. My flexion is fine - 120 to 129, depending on when it was measured, but...

TKR 9 weeks and my biggest complaint is muscle soreness>

Interesting differences. After my first TKR I asked about kneeling at my 7 week post-op appointment and my OS said I could if I wanted. I tried that day and it was uncomfortable but not awful. By summer I was gardening on my knees, on a pad, and my knees didn't hurt any more than they did...

    TKR izzy's new knee-post op

@izzy - I had my surgery the same day as you, and I can't imagine doing without the narcotic pain meds yet, especially at night. I think last time I weaned off them at about 6 weeks without any trouble, so I'm not concerned. I, too, would encourage you to ask for more - has your OS said he...

    TKR Dancing Fool's second knee

I'm two weeks out from surgery today, and doing just as well as the first TKR - which I knew not to expect, but hoped for. Saw my PT yesterday for the first time, and exactly as last time had a flexion of 105 and extension almost straight. She said I'm walking fine, and have good muscle...

    Vacation after TKR

With my very limited experience, I also think it depends on how fast you recover. I worried last year about the same thing because I was looking forward to our month in Louisiana about 14 weeks after my TKR. We go primarily to dance, and it's a long drive from Wisconsin to Louisiana. It...

    TKR izzy's new knee-post op

Thanks for the info on your exercises; that's pretty much the same things I've been doing. I was given a booklet of exercises at the hospital and I've been doing the first few, not all of them. Now, if the swelling would go down . . .

    TKR izzy's new knee-post op

I hope you won't feel bad about asking for whatever pain meds you need; you're being given a really limited amount at a time. I'm taking far more than you are, and it's what my OS typically prescribes. I take 1 oxycodone every 3 hours (2 at night), 2 tramadol every 6 hours, 2 acetaminophen...

    TKR Sciatica pain>

strummer52 - I had horrible sciatic or piriformis pain with my first TKR last year. Pain meds didn't touch it, multiple visits with my chiropractor didn't help, finally a massage therapist made the pain go away. It's probably worth trying a chiropractor first, but if that doesn't help, find a...

    abnormal lab results after ltkr

@J.A. Hag - it's also possible that the food lumps and burping/hiccups are due to the Percocet. Just as opiates interfere with intestinal peristalsis (constipation), they can interfere with esophageal peristalsis. I'm having just what you describe again this time. With my last knee it went...

    TKR Dancing Fool's second knee

Thanks for the replies. I wish there were actual studies to back up the BoneSmart mantras - I looked for them with the last knee and couldn't find anything. I'd love to have something to show my OS and his team; anecdotal reports don't mean much to medical folks no matter how much they make...

    TKR izzy's new knee-post op

Hi, izzy - glad to hear you're doing well. We had our surgeries on the same day; I just posted my update. May we heal quickly!

    TKR Dancing Fool's second knee

Hello, all. Had my second knee done 3 days ago and thought I'd check in. I'm glad I posted with my first knee last year; I can compare how this one is doing. So far it looks good - I had a faster-than-average recovery last time and I seem to be on the same track with this one. Biggest...

Synvisc shots: should I be nervous about getting them?

I agree with the "go elsewhere" folks - especially since your current OS doesn't do very many TKRs. You were treated very poorly - I wonder what they thought the appointment was for?! With a new OS, perhaps you can discuss going straight to the TKRs without bothering with the Synvisc...

2016 November Nimbles - Are you having knee surgery in November?

Please add me to the list - 9 November. I had my right knee done 21 October last year and spent a lot of time in my chair reading Bonesmart while I iced my knee. Hoping this one goes as well as the last one. :-)
