MUA My new left knee-has Athrofibrosis, what now?

:shocked:Her mom goes back to work in 3 more weeks! I’ll be keeping her and brothers age almost 2 & almost 4, two days a week while daddy is at school. I may need my head examined! OS did give me a small amount of meds I am using only when I absolutely have to. I should probably be icing...

MUA My new left knee-has Athrofibrosis, what now?

A lot has happened in the last few weeks……at my 6 week follow up I was reaching near 0 extension (when stretching before measuring) and 110 degrees of flex. I cannot lock my knee when walking so my surgical leg is slightly shorter than the other leg. I was also walking on the outside of my...

MUA My new left knee-has Athrofibrosis, what now?

Well it’s been a while, i was asked by another member in a pm for an update and figured I’d share with all. Maybe it will help someone else experiencing the same nightmare. I met with another sports medicine surgeon and agreed to do an arthroscopic lysis of adhesions with MUA. He is training...

MUA My new left knee-has Athrofibrosis, what now?

Yesterday I met with the sports surgeon to discuss doing an arthroscopic lysis of adhesions. After discussion and evaluation he said he felt the procedure would be beneficial in reducing the stiffness and gaining some ROM. I was estimated to be 5/100 at this visit. This is where is figured I...

TKR When oh when oh when

@Jammy are you working on anything in particular in your season 2 of PT? I have thought about trying another round to teach me how to walk without killing my opposite hip. I have been doing some walking while pushing a stroller to try taking longer strides walking heel to toe to see if that...

TKR When oh when oh when

Oh @Jammy we are soul sisters! I have wondered if going back to PT to re-learn to walk would help with my new onset right hip pain??? My hip and lower back just scream when I have been on my feet for a while. I too feel like this surgery has ruined my life, but I am determined to push on...

MUA My new left knee-has Athrofibrosis, what now?

@Pumpkin I am planning to set aside about 8-12 weeks of rest and healing before having to watch my grandkids again. Then it should only be about 4 hrs 2 days a week. I have attached the bio for the sports surgeon I was referred to. I started to look for someone in Southern California to...

@Pumpkin, yes please change my title to ”my new left knee-has Athrofibrosis, what now? Thank you for the input on number of procedures for the surgeon to be considered experienced for this procedure. I am insured with Kaiser Permanente and cannot go to a surgeon outside of network with...

TKR When oh when oh when

Ha! I thought the same thing about me when I read about the gabapentin being a cause of irritability.:heehee: I wanted to let you know I also wear a compression knee sleeve most of the time. I find the compression for some strange reason helps me not notice the tightness in my knee as much (I...

MUA My new left knee-has Athrofibrosis, what now?

@eaglemom thank you for your candor. I appreciate that I belong to a club nobody wants to be in. I’d rather hear the real deal than to have it sugar coated and be disappointed with what reality brings me. Even before my knee was replaced I had to do steps one step at a time going down (30+...

    TKR Something isn’t right..

I can’t use it on the actual knee, but use one on the muscles in my quad and calf areas and it does loosen them up to get more stretch/bend. I also have had luck using a tens unit above and below the knee.

    TKR Something isn’t right..

@dotski I’m not sure how many others experienced an elevated heart rate, but mine went up right after surgery and stayed up for months. I noticed this week that I a finally back to my pre-surgery ”normal” range. I wondered if it had to do with medications (but I’m still taking most except...

I hear you @Jammy. I am also one of those pesky 1%ers. Keep your chin up. Seek another ortho consult. A fresh set of eyes may be helpful. I tell myself I don’t have to settle for being miserable for the rest of my life, you don’t have to settle either. Just know you are no alone.

MUA My new left knee-has Athrofibrosis, what now?

I had my aspiration a week ago. He was only able to get a small amount of fluid out, as the swelling is finally starting to go down. With the reduced swelling, the pain is a little better too. It only took 9 months.:flabber: My biggest issue still is the stiffness, and low ROM. I had a...
