    TKR Turning point

@Beanie0831, welcome to your journey to full recovery! I can't believe how much of my life I have "back." My first knee replacement was in August 2020. Lots of pain plus some weight gain (though I tried to lose a little before surgery). By my 6 month check up I pretty OK. That was the bad...

TKR Beaverturtle Recovery Log and Questions

I am reviewing bone smart advice about pain management. I feel pretty good, but often use a heating pad on my knee (lowest setting) when I'm lying in bed with my knee elevated. I prefer that to ice, which is the bone smart recommendation. Am I causing myself harm?

Revision TKR PT Post revision surgery

I waited a LONG time before I had my first replacement surgery. Probably too long as I was in pain at a level of 6 out of 10 without exertion most days. When I finally went to an orthopedic surgeon he said he didn't understand how I could walk. From August 2020 until now (16 months?) my life...

TKR Beaverturtle Recovery Log and Questions

Hi, Poctdb! Well, my left knee held up for awhile, but I finally went in for surgery on November 30, and I have to say, the difference in experience is amazing. Recovery is much much faster in the sense of less pain and more ability to move than with the right (VALGUS) knee. I'm very happy...

TKR November 30 - New Left Knee

I hope this will get added to November Nifties or Nimbles or whatever it is. I'm kind of excited even though I remember the pain of the Right TKR in August-September 2020. Just want it over with so that I can get on with my life!

TKR Beaverturtle Recovery Log and Questions

Thanks, Poctdb, that's helpful. I have started working on my core and since I posted that first post, the core is getting better. The only thing I find helpful is stretching. I'm going to post a link on my next reply to you. What is IS? I'm expecting that EVENTUALLY the other knee will have...

TKR Beaverturtle Recovery Log and Questions

Dear Annie, I'm glad we are replacement twins...:tada:Thanks for your question. I also am doing pretty well. For me, it's also 7-8K steps, some days a little more, some a little less. Still have back pain but much less. That book is good...thanks to Pumpkin. I have been working with a...

TKR Beaverturtle Recovery Log and Questions

I am almost 6 weeks into my TKR, right knee. Though the surgeon didn’t say this specifically, I think the recommendation was more to repair an extremely “valgus” situation. I couldn’t put my feet more than 15” together. I’ll upload an X-ray eventually. Here are my biggest concerns tonight. I...

Welcome to the August Hotshots' 2020 Knee Recovery Club

Please add beaverturtle to the August Hot Shots. My surgery date was August 11. Greetings to everyone! I had a TKA on my right knee. Valgus-ness was the primary reason for the surgery. I couldn't put my feet together at all. The closest I could get them was 15 inches apart.
