Revision TKR LTKR Revision for 1cruiselvr

Celle...thx for responding. It's VERY stiff, like cement. I am almost out of pain medication. I am taking it sparingly. I see my dr next Tuesday. I hope to get an Rx for more then but I hear he is pretty conservative on that subject.

Revision TKR LTKR Revision for 1cruiselvr

Almost end of wk 6, knee is playing usual tricks - not too painful one day, then out of control the next. I see my dr next week. My biggest problem is stiffness. Almost as bad as when I had my original TKR. Is this normal? I'm starting to get concerned that I will be stuck with another stiff...

Revision TKR LTKR Revision for 1cruiselvr

Hi Celle...i think my dr is concerned about me building excessive scar tissue like I did the first time. He says I have to 'train' it to be plyable which can only be done with regular exercises and PT. But you have a good point, about not telling him, although I suspect he will ask and also...

Revision TKR LTKR Revision for 1cruiselvr

Thx everyone. I guess it's my dr's attitude that has me worried. He definitely believes in doing more than less right from the start. I am afraid of the knee 'seizing' up and him blaming me when I tell him I've been 'light' on the exercise routine he provided. I am doing much better this time...

Revision TKR LTKR Revision for 1cruiselvr

It's almost been 4 weeks since my revision and I'm slowly doing better. My dr. believes in a very strict PT regimen. I was sent home from the hospital with a 2 page list (w/illustrations) of exercises to do daily. I've been bad and haven't followed it. I have gone to PT 2-3x a week (but it...

LTKR Revision, is it same experience as original?

Hi Josephine....you have a great memory! My implant is encased in fibrosis and it's my understanding that the type of implant I received in my TKR was dependent upon the posterior cruciate ligament which the replacement dr (remember mine passed away about 30 days after my TKR) severed when he...

    Knee Surgery Fear!

I am right behind you, with surgery on the 23rd and am just as anxious as you. I think it's human nature. I had a TKR in March 2012 and this will be a revision. The Bonesmart community was a lifesaver for me last time and I'm grateful they are here to help and guide us thru it. Good luck and...

LTKR Revision, is it same experience as original?

Thank you Celle and Jamie for responding. I am hoping for easier as my dr. may not have to replace all parts of the implant, possibly just the top portion and the plastic insert but he won't know until he gets in there.

LTKR Revision, is it same experience as original?

I have an old Bonesmart thread from 2012 when I was going thru my pre and post op left TKR but I don't know how to attach or if it's necessary. I'm having a revision done next week (September 23rd) and besides be nervous, I'm wondering what the experience is like in comparison to my original...

2015 September Sapphires - Are You Having Knee Surgery In September?

Using Vitamins or supplements to help with recovery

I am preparing for TKR Revision next week and was told to stop all multivitamins and supplements (like turmuric, zinc, etc) because many cause blood thinning which they don't want prior to surgery. I'd ask your dr his opinion about pre-surgery.

Very nervous about pending Knee replacement

Hello Sweetpea, I share your feelings. I'm getting a left knee total replacement revision done on the 23rd and since I've been thru it before I'm extra nervous. The bonesmart family is fantastic for support and knowledge, lean on them and it will help tremendously.

    TKR 5 months post op

It's almost been 9 mos since my TKR and my knee is extremely stiff, feels like I'm trying to bend cement when I walk. I am very frustrated, yet try to stay hopeful that tomorrow will be a better day. I did 5 mos of PT so it's not like I didn't work the knee/muscles during recovery. I agree with...

    TKR Finally made it

I could be wrong but I don't think you need a dermatologist but an allergist, if you haven't seen one yet. You need to find the source of your allergy(ies). On another note, we had similar surgery dates, if you recall, and I haven't been on this board for awhile either. I went back to work in...

    1cruiselvr recovery diary

Hello everyone, It's been awhile since I posted. I went thru a very frustrating time with my extension. Months of PT and a Dynasplint didn't do much for it. So on July 13th I had a MUA with arthroscopic debridement and release of the posterior ligament. The ligament release has really made a...
