I had LTHR on January 3rd. Found out April 3rd that the other hip needs doing and so I am wait-listed for that.
I have noticed on my operated side, left leg, that the ankle swells significantly when I have been sitting. Generally, if I start exercising or if I am lying down there is no swelling. Will that swelling eventually stop occurring?
My second concern is that over the past couple of weeks I find that my left sit-bone area feels quite achy when I have been sitting. It seems especially noticeable when I am driving. (I drive an automatic so the left leg doesn't have anything to do.). The sensation isn't painful but uncomfortable as if something is lodged there. What helps is to do a few lunges on either side when I am standing again, stretch everything out and the discomfort goes away.
Does it really take so long to get back to "normal"?
On the plus side, I am amazed that my operated side is so strong and pain-free when I am taking it through its range of motions.
