TKR Knee buckling

Hi Tennistwin,
Since buckling can increase your risk of falling and suffering a sprain or broken bone, possibly you can get in to see your OS sooner than two weeks from now? A common cause of buckling is quad weakness. You mentioned though that it began at four months post op and seems increasingly more frequent. Consider trying to get an earlier appointment and hopefully receive some reassurance from your surgeon.
Best wishes! Let us know how your appointment goes.

Hi!

What did your ortho say when you asked him about the hard lump you reported here March 3?

I see in your earlier notes that you had reported a flexion of 150, which is unusual after TKA. Post op our tendons and ligaments sometimes have to readjust to our new structure - either previously lax ones tighten or previously shortened ones stretch. I wonder if this plus your very extensive ROM might be contributing to the instability you feel? Worth a phone call to ortho.

Agree with @Jockette that maybe you are doing too vigorous exercises for your still recovering knee.
If you have a really good physio or pilates teacher- it might be worth discussing exactly what triggers the buckling. Then you could work on strengthening specific muscles to tighten the ligaments and hopefully protect the knee joint.
