THR Hip replacement problem and revision

In your opinion would you say that revision surgery can be ok, its just that I have read negative comments about a 2nd op.
Oh you will hear negative input about any op. But there are plenty of success stories as well.
It seems that I dont seem to have the best hip sockets, shallow and narrow pelvis. Tight hips I believe was the term.
A revision specialist will know exactly how to deal with these issues.
I definitely know that in the last 6 months I have noticed my op leg is becoming shorter.
Muscle atrophy when they can't be used right. Once that hip is revised you can get back to walking correctly. Just remember, all this is temporary.

Are you using a walking stick or any other walking aid?

Hi Jacey,

No not using any walking aid. I have tried really hard to overcome limping with nordic walkers and concentration, daily. and always now have the heal pad in my right trainer. Walking seems to be the most painless time for me, until I stop, I walked a good mile, perhaps 2, yesterday then stopped in a queue for a coffee and the top front of my knees throbbed awfully, and outside of knees - that thick ligament. I was told that I wasnt feeling the pain so much walking as my brain was occupied but as in above as soon as I stopped I felt knee pain and there was lots going on for my brain to still focus on, if that is how it works. By the way I have had xrays that show my knees are good, a tiny bit of arthritis at the back but nothing to shout about good front of knees, spacing etc.

I would use a walking aid while you are dealing with this problem. Taking the weight off that op side may help a bit when you are standing. Gosh - I hope you can get a consultation soon!

Hi, so how do I ask if other forum members may have gone through this, so that I can read their experience /help etc. about their revision op or otherwise. thank you, julie

Go to the Hip Surgery Recovery area and look for the blue subtitle for revision in front of a thread title. It looks like this

.

There aren't too many revision members active at this time. Most are out living life again.
