Hello!

So glad I found this group. I have been down since 2019. 6 failed hip surgeries, 7 dislocations, infection, incision won’t close up and I woke up yesterday and couldn’t walk on my hip at all.

Hip feels like it’s non-function and my leg is like a a rag doll, just hanging. Surgeon says there is no bone left to attach the ball to in my hip.

Will I be wheelchair bound now? Scared to go in next week…..so scared.

@kelseydee Welcome to BoneSmart! I am so sorry to hear of all the problems you have had with your hip! If you give us a list of the dates of the surgeries and what was done at each, we will create a signature for you.

Are you still seeing the surgeon who did the initial hip replacement? Have you sought out any other opinions from surgeons elsewhere? If not it would be a very good idea for you to do so! It sounds to me like you need a specialist who treats many problem hips.

I sincerely hope you can get good answers soon and a reasonable plan to address your problems :prayer:

Thank you!

April 4 2019 - R hip replacment

April 11, 2020 - R hip revision

April 2, 2022 - R hip revision

April 4, 2022 - R hip revision

August 3, 2023- R hip removal, spacer inserted

Feb 9, 2024 - R hip replacement

I stopped seeing the original surgeon after the 4th failed hip. I have a new surgeon that has done surgery 5 and 6 and two days ago I woke up and can no longer put weight on the r hip so it has likely failed again.

Welcome & so sorry to read about your situation.
I have no good advice but we are here to support you emotionally during this very difficult journey.
Keep us posted.

I am so sorry for all you've endured and continue to struggle with in regard to your right hip.

Another consideration may be an online consultation with HSS, Hospital for Special Surgery, which is the top rated orthopedic hospital in the country. They are located in NYC, with other east coast locations, but will review cases remotely. I will include the link. HERE
I believe they have a committee of surgeons that work together on complex cases.

Prayers for direction, answers, resolution, comfort and peace of mind as you move forward. Please stay in touch and know that we're here for support always. :console2:
@kelseydee

@kelseydee why did you need all the revisions. Meaning what procedures did the surgeon have to do to correct the problems.

The hip was dislocating and components kept falling out for the first two, then infection.
