I think this got buried in my original post, I got no responses, so I'm going to post it here also.
Next weekend (Memorial weekend) I have a chance to go to Montana with friends. It is an hour and 15 min flight. Am I ok to fly? I will be 5.5 weeks out for me. I asked my PT about it and he said he thought it would be fine, if I wore my TED hose and did lots of ankle pumps and kept moving. I have not asked my OS yet, but wanted to get opinions from BSrs.

I would get clearance from the OS first. 5.5 weeks seems a little early, check Big Genes posts, he flew soon after his TKA.
Sit on the aisle so you can get up and move around easily.

I flew 6 days post op to get home. All with surgeons approval. Yes had TD socks. I paid for seat with more leg room and made sure I had an aisle seat. And lots of ankle pumps and heel slides.

I am almost three weeks out, and I will be flying home hopefully Friday! :yahoo:

One suggestion since you are just out of the starting gate, tell them you need a wheel chair and need to pre board. It will make your life so much easier!

ah yes, and I got hoisted onto the plane at each end as there was no airbridge.

Check with your OS to be sure, but flying should pose no problem for you. As others have said, get an aisle seat, do ankle pumps and get up to stretch, even though its a short flight, you still need to stay loose. Also, be sure to let security know you have a knee replacement before going through. It helped make the screening easier for everyone.

Be well,

Dawn

Dawn, very good points. The good news is that almost every airport has x ray now. It would take forever to get through secruity with numerous pat downs and wandings. Now it takes 3 seconds.
Have a good trip.
