Update: Today is three weeks post op. I had my post op appointment Friday and all was good. Got to see the x-ray with my new “equipment” and must say I am amazed! 25 staples came out of my leg and surprisingly I could barely feel it. I have transitioned to walking with one crutch except when...

@Layla Thanks for checking in on me! I’m doing about the same as yesterday and slept about as good as I did the night before. Maybe I’m a little more sore but not in agony. I’ll definitely be resting big time today and pretty much the whole week. My post op appt is Friday so I want to be tip top...

@Layla Icing now and I also iced before game, at half and during second half. Per your advice, I’ve been icing around the clock and last two nights have fallen asleep with an ice bag on my leg. It has definitely helped with the pain. Thanks!

@Josephine the pain feels like the same pain I was experiencing in my hip before the surgery. It has gotten better the last couple of days so maybe something that was in my head. @Kevc02 Well against the better judgement of most people here, I did go to the game today. However, before anyone...

Thanks so much for the feedback and no need for appoligies. It’s was kinda funny. What about the actual hip pain? Is that normal?

Question for the community of hippies...I’m on day 10 in recovery and still in a decent amount of pain especially at night when I’m trying to sleep. Is this common in your experiences? Also, from talking to people who had had this surgery, almost all of them told me my hip pain would be gone...

Well knock on wood...I think I’m seeing some very small strides. Love @Layla ‘s idea about taking things weekend by weekend too. Today is one week with a new hip and even though I slept terrible last night (pain), I woke up stronger and more confident. I’m moving better with a little less pain...

@Going4fun Thanks for the feedback. This site is an awesome resource for learning about recovery and especially for getting positive feedback that will talk you off the ledge. (Like..maybe I didn’t need this surgery after all?!?) I didn’t choose the surgical approach...I chose the doctor. Long...

This is what I hate right now...woke up today and was feeling good. Like there was some real progress. I feel like my leg is getting stronger. The pain was less than yesterday. And then...just the slightest wrong move getting off the couch and BAM... The pain is back with a vengeance! That...

Dang you’re making me jealous talking about going out having margaritas with friends and eating a big satisfying meal!! After taking one of these oxys, I can barely eat one piece of pizza and I’m too scared to drink more than one beer! Happy birthday and glad to hear you had a good day with...

@TripleF100 Lol...me too. My brother asked me if I could run / walk a mile with no assistance for $1,000,000 the day after my surgery and I said oh yeah I could! False. Six days out, I’m not sure I could go a mile if my life depended on it!

@TripleF100 Good advice. I just read your post op experience and we sound a little similar. While I’m not the crazy runner you are, I have run several half marathons and then up to the day before my surgery I was swimming a mile a day. I have always felt the need to “run through the pain” and as...
