I was shocked when my doctor told me I was a candidate for a THR. My pain just kept getting worse and a steroid injection didn't help. I went ahead with the surgery and am so glad I did it. I have no more pain and now I can do the things I used to do.
The thing that calmed me was being prepared. Do you have everything set up? My surgery went really really smoothly. I was home the same day and pain was pretty well managed. Make sure you have a good ice pack or packs.
@Scared one - I had pains like that for sure. I had pains all around my knee, various areas of my quadricep, etc. I do not really have those pains now. I do have little twinges infrequently when I am doing something active, but it gets less frequent.
I am about four months from having THR anterior on my right hip. The first few months I had many days where I was freaked out that I was never going to get better, or something really bad was going to happen. Now I rarely have any pain, can do my normal hikes and I am even doing some light...
Well, I was able to walk/hike my usual hour long 3 mile hike with very very minimal pain in a reasonable amount of time. So happy. It's been a little over three months and I am only going to be able to improve my stamina and flexibility. I even was able to work out at the gym and do some...
Well, I have good news to report. I am finally feeling pretty well recovered. I can go up and down the stairs normally now without any pain or discomfort. I am walking about two miles with a tiny bit of elevation gain (100 feet up and down) without any pain. I have been noticing that I...
I had an anterior THR on my right side back in July. I have had knee pain off and on. I would definitely recommend icing your knee. As Eman85 had mentioned, it can definitely be caused by your IT bands. Also, when they do the surgery, they really crank things around which can cause more...
I don't know what to think about my recovery. Now it hurts more to go from a sitting to a standing position. Trying to do a squat to get to full standing hurts and going up the stairs doesn't feel good yet. I can do about half a flight. I am also having sharp pain in the hip like something...
Well, looks like I overdid it again. I was out of town in the Olympic Peninsula and went up to Hurricane Ridge. Did a short hike with a little elevation gain and on the way down my leg started trembling. That was last Wednesday. My thigh still hurts today.
I am also still, at ten weeks out...
Yup bought new shoes and going to focus on the slow walking with the best posture and form I can do. Thanks. This morning I feel much better than usual and I also noticed that turning over to either side now doesn't hurt so much. I am thinking that the bad posture and the limping actually...
