THR 2yr Anniversary RTHR... reality check

Thx for asking. I am worried that I might dislocate. Feels like I have a “knot” in my right glute that restricts the ability to put my ankle on left knee. Yes, I know it is safer & I can bend over to tie my shoes, and if I don’t use the dressing aid (big/bulky) the process I use is to put my...

THR 2yr Anniversary RTHR... reality check

Thx... I also thought my ROM would be greater by now. I had pain in my lower spine for years. I was treated for herniated disc at various times until a doc at a pain clinic suggested a hip x-ray. I assume that back pain was probably referred from my hip which was badly deteriorated.

THR 2yr Anniversary RTHR... reality check

My measurement for total recovery from THR is putting on a sock without the dressing aid. During the 2 years since surgery I steadily progressed from walker to long walks to pool aerobics to the elliptical trainer. At 1yr checkup my OS was unconcerned that I could not bring my surgical leg into...

THR 2.5 wks out & getting better every day!

On Dec11th I will be at 4mths post op (RTHR) 3mths after moving into my condo and i am doing well with a bit of just-in-time help/support getting settled in. I have a tendency to let my "to do" list drive my day. Listening to my body for cues of overdoing it... Fatigue stops me. Have met many...

Heather take heart! Give yourself the gift of time. On November 11, I will be at 3 months. As of last week I was able to walk 2 miles a day... No limp, no cane, no pain! I have just started to sleep thru the night in the past week. Tying my right shoe and putting on my right sock are #1 goals...

THR Hippywagon 2 Aug Posterior THR Recovery Going Well

Hi HW I had posterior RTHR on August 11. I was also hungry to get outside, to feel the sunshine and breeze... Walk with my favorite pooch again. He is a little guy, gentle soul going on 12yrs. Our first walk together at 2.5wks out was a very slow .5km walk with a cane on pavement wearing foot...

THR 2.5 wks out & getting better every day!

Ice, rest and elevate has been a key toward making recovery possible for me. Doing basic exercises and walk often. Primarily using a cane. I took my pooch Mikey for a sloooowwwww walk this morning and we both enjoyed it. Take acetaminophen when i feel achey. Looking forward to end of precaution...

THR 2.5 wks out & getting better every day!

Yes the chair is dual purpose... Toileting/Showering. The not so funny part to the chair story was that a nurse shared that men have a worse experience than women... Seems there are man parts that get stuck! BTW i got / used a HurryCane (blue) before surgery out of necessity. I rely on it...

THR 2.5 wks out & getting better every day!

Overall i am doing well and have had a good experience. The low point was the toilet/shower contraption the hospital provided for orthopedic patients. I am 5.2" and could not find a comfortable place on the chair . I plan on providing hospital administrators with some pointed feedback. I am...

    Spinal

I am not a fan of catheters either, however i was grateful that first night post op not having to use a bed pan or diapers. I was sooooo pumped with IV fluid that i would have been constantly wet or draining into a bed pan.... Not a restful way to go. My catheter came out by 6:00 am on day 2 ...

    Spinal

I am 6 days out. Never had any issues with anesthetics but was surprised with the spinal. I needed to spend a few extra hrs in recovery waiting to be able to wiggle my toes. When i finally got to my room, i became nauseous and had a few rounds of what could only be described as projectile...
